My lovely new carpet washer arrived the other day. It's a VAX, like my earlier one. I was very happy with it, but it effectively died about a year ago, so, when I saw this one I went for it. This one is bigger, but not heavier, because a lot of the parts are plastic, and it's MUCH more powerful. My long pile cream rug has come up beautifully, the hall rugs are back to their original colour and the areas I cleaned look great. But... I cleaned out the clean water tank easily, then the dirty water tank resisted, so I tugged gently... Sigh... One soaked shoe and sock and a wee pile of yuky water later... Probably my fault. But the amount of cat fur this machine removed from the rug, along with last summer's cat flea powder and goodness knows what else was...shocking, really. It's a bit tricky to remove that amount of gunge from underneath, but what a BARGAIN!! And I'll get used to removing the dirty water tank...or I could wear wellies next time.

One word for the price...BRILLIANT!!I did not think it would be any good, as it is not expensive compared to most, but I could not afford a pricier one.I was all prepared to send it back, as I thought: "for the price this is going to be garbage".But I was wrong!Does the job brilliantly, especially for the price.Easy to assemble and clean and use, comes with attachments that are well handy.I would recommend this cleaner any day of the week :0)

I have 4 large dogs and carpet which is not a good combination. :) I bought this machine and I was amazed by how nicely it cleaned the carpet. I mostly used the hose bit as to me it feels more effective. Downside is that I had to empty the dirty water and fill in with clean water multiply times, which is time consuming. Also not sure if its normal, but despite carefully attaching the tanks and all parts it’s leaking a bit at the back of the machine. It is pretty noisy though, would not like to spend a whole day using it. :)Also not sure yet whats the best way of cleaning the bottom as dog hair stuck inside. My overall feedback is its a great machine for the price.

Very pleased with this - have an elderly dog with renal problems who has the occasional accident. Esy and quick to put together and usual as for Vax, good quality carpet cleaner. Used this and the smell has gone. Dries quickly after use, not too heavy to carry up and down stairs and fits neatly under my stairs. Its quite noisy in use but not unbearably so.

What a great machine!! It's brought my carpet up good as new, smells so fresh and looks so clean. Bought as we have 2 doggies. Decided it would be more cost effective to buy rather than hire as this isn't the first time I've had to use one and it worked just as well, if not better, than a hire!It came with a pre wash, ultra+ and original wash liquid. Well worth its money and now I can use it anytime.

Works as good as the other Vax carpets cleaners in terms of cleaning. Smaller tank means more emptying and filling. The reason for the 1 star review is due to the product breaking after a handful of uses. I bought this 2 years ago so not new but only been used on stairs and sofa approx twice a year. The rubber seal has come off the tank below the water tank. On requesting for support via customer services. I was told they can't help because the warranty has run out. Not even a recommendation on replacement parts. I was asked if I would like some support buying a new one!!! No thanks. This is the second Vax carpet cleaner that has broken after a handful of uses. Never again, I'll go back to hiring :). Researching the web, I found this is a common fault with the machines. Replacement parts are needed to fix the machine. Such a shame. I would have paid for the machine fixing and replacement part. This wasn't an option. I would stay clear from buying Vax products. Waste of time, money and bad for the environment.

The item was easy to assemble and the instructions are basic but straight forward. I had a bit of a nightmare when removing the dirty water tank to empty it, it was a little fiddly and it spilt all over the floor, Luckily I was in the kitchen so it was easy to wipe up off the tiles. Pleased with the results, it’s so satisfying seeing the yucky dirty water and the pet hair in the tank, due to having 2 dogs I hoover every other day and had hoovered prior to using the carpet cleaner so I was shocked to see how much hair was in the tank and wrapped in the brushes!! Im a little disappointed that the smell of the solution isn’t stronger, although the smell is pleasant I do like stronger smelling fragrances around the home, it’s not enough to knock off a star though and won’t be an issue if you don’t like strong fragrances, as long as it cleans the carpets and removes dirt that’s the main thing. It’s definitely worth having especially if you do have pets and/or children, it brings carpets back to life. Saw a few comments saying it’s loud, i personally don’t think it’s that much louder than your average hoover. It also comes with a bag (which has a hanger on) to store your accessories/solutions/instruction manual etc which is a nice extra. I found it easy to use and got the hang of it pretty quickly (press the handle when pushing forward, release the handle when pulling back) I haven’t tried the pre treatment wand or smaller nozzle yet so can’t comment on those. Overall I would recommend this item and think it’s definitely good quality for the price.
