I would recommend for thin metal or even light weight leather
We use these heavy duty punches for fire extinguishers at work. They're durable and punch right through the metal tags. They last a few years if they're taken care of. I would recommend for thin metal or even light weight leather.

Excellent product. I bought it for putting nail holes in my home made calendars, which consist of 7 pages of 80# paper to have to punch through, and I did not have to squeeze very hard. So far I have done at least a hundred calendars and they look neater than they did before when I'd use a drill press.NOTE: it has a little metal plate near the punching head that you can slide back to empty the paper plugs, which is very stick and you'll probably need a flat head screwdriver. You will not be able to see exactly where you are punching unless you put in the back position.

great
I've owned these before and they are not the best you can buy but good value. This is heavy duty and will punch light metal and multiple card stock. Received it in a very timely manner and have no complaints.

Read whole product description
I wanted a hole punch to punch 1/4" holes.Product description is clear -- if you read to the end."McGill 20-Sheet Heavy-Duty One-Hole 1/4" Utility Punch, Punches 1/8" Hole, Nickel-Plated Steel (301)"I read "One-Hole 1/4" Utility Punch."Rest of description clearly states "Punches 1/8" hole."So -- I returned this item and I ordered "McGill Metal Products ... (303) ..."

Works great
Just replaced my old one that has lasted 10 years. The old one finally gave up. The metal tab that secures the punch pin bent and broke. I use this daily for punching fire extinguisher tags 4 at a time. It's punched THOUSANDS in 10 years before finally giving out. Great tool!

Not worth more than $10 tops
You can tell it is built to last but I need to punch holes for inspection tags and with this punch you can not line the punch up quickly. Claims to punch through 20 sheets? Can't even fit but 7 sheets in there. The cheap Fiskars do a better job and quicker than this. Wish I hadn't wasted my money on it.

Does the job
Bought these to punch holes for monthly inspection of fire extinguishers in tin plates. Work well
