Great Quality Fishing Rod
This is my second St Croix fishing rod. I upgraded to the Avid rod and I really like it. It is very sensitive and, for me, it casts 4lb braided fishing line much farther than other lightweight rods that I have used in the past. I have it paired with an ultralight spinning reel and the balance of the rig is great. Casting and retriving is effortless. It took less than an hour of practice for me to get the accuracy where I wanted it and it could be consistently repeatable. I am using it for trout fishing in a small pond.

Bad products and terrible customer service
I've bought 5 St Croix rods over the past year because they looked great and felt great. But two of them broke because of faulty workmanship. One just snapped while reeling in a 6lb bass and the other with a 4lb bass. Just snapped with a loud cracking noise. Totally unacceptable. Now I don't trust the other 3. And their warranty service is ridiculous. You can't get them by phone, email or chat. You have to leave your number and they will call you back in a day or so with a very unfriendly attitude. Then you submit a report, with detailed pictures of the break, then wait for them to get back with you in 3 weeks to let you know how much it's going to cost for shipping and "warranty fees"...I said 3 weeks; and WARRANTY FEES, and so far that hasn't happened (it's been over 3 weeks). The warranty fee listed on the form is $60 then there's shipping. You tell me if that's worth the hassle and cost, when you can buy a $60 Ugly Stick which will out-perform any St. Croix rod and last forever. Don't be an idiot like me
