Good way to PRACTICE soldering
This kit is exactly as described and looks exactly like the pictures, and it’s a fun, goal-oriented way to practice how to solder components onto a circuit board. Is this a particularly good little gadget or something that you will want to make music with? No! But that’s not the point- it’s meant for students and anyone else who’s just getting into soldering or who’s out of practice to hone their technique by putting together a functional electronic gizmo. And it does that very well!Don’t forget the flux!~Unbiased review- No benefit/penalty for good/bad marks~

Damaged parts in kit
I assembled the kit and it didn't work after troubleshooting the kit the speaker was dead and I have to buy another speaker make it work

A good intermediate-level project for SMD soldering.
I recently got a kit from a different brand name (a unique "flashing lights" kit) that I felt was a really good intro to SMD (Surface Mount Direct) soldering, except in one nuance, which I'll bring up later.I saw this kit and saw that it also had SMD components and decided to try it. The finished product works and is certainly unique, but I'm going to focus this review on the assembly aspects; The finished product isn't going to blow your mind. The journey is what should be enjoyed here!Onto that mysterious nuance... Both the other kit I've assembled and this one have instructions styled identically. However, the instructions to the flashing lights kit were VERY succinct, so it was easy to follow. But there was no instruction for soldering itself. For me, having experience with soldering, that was no problem. But if someone decides to try it with no experience or training, they're not going to know what to do to get started.By comparison, this kit's manual does touch on soldering, showing some surprisingly clear illustrations of target conditions as well as less-than-ideal conditions of soldered joints (it doesn't touch on other nuances such as recommended temperature or cleaning your iron's tip). BUT. This manual is written in horribly broken English. It's bad enough that I can easily imagine a newbie picking this kit up and getting confused by this kit's manual's instructions, it's that bad.But again, I have experience with this, so I actually quite enjoyed assembling this kit. This is why I deem this kit as "intermediate level". Someone with a little soldering experience, or especially good formal training, may enjoy this kit. A journeyman will not have any issues assembling this kit; Heck, I bet they could suggest hardware improvements to it.But again, I enjoyed assembling this, and I have a unique little trinket to show for my efforts. I hope to delve more into designing and building my own electronic circuits, aside from the simple LED circuits I already make, but I still like picking up kits such as this to keep my skills sharp. Soldering, especially SMD soldering, is an art. If one doesn't keep their skills sharp, they will slowly lose them.

Great gift for Adults too
I purchased this as a gift for my wife, as we both enjoy mini tinkering products like this, and we both think it’s great. The form factor is fun and cute, and I think including an instrument changer is pretty neat. We love a fun project that looks nice on a shelf - and this is certainly that!Recommended

Fun soldering practice kit
This looks like a fun practice kit to learn some surface mount soldering. I haven’t built it yet, but I've built a lot of kits like this, and am a pretty good judge of them. I got this one because it has a few through hole components as well as a few surface mount components, and I haven’t done much surface mount soldering yet, and wanted to practice. I like that it’s a kit that “does something” when it’s finished. It uses an STC microcontroller as the central chip, and I assume it’s preprogrammed. Unfortunately, this isn’t a super common chip in the hobbyist community, so it’s unlikely that you can easily reprogram it to make other sounds, like some other kits. At least this kit has 3 instrument sounds built in already. The printed instructions are very good, and I don’t foresee any difficulty in the build. It also includes a QR code to download a PDF of the instructions, but they are basically just a duplicate of the printed instructions included already. So far, I’ll presume 5 stars, but will update this review if there is any difficulty once I build it.

Good present for engineer student
I got this as a Christmas present for my engineering student child. The instructions do look step-by step with pictures, as opposed to other solder kits which give little or not direction. My child is a musician, so this project is a plus in that regard! The project looks complex enough that I wouldn't recommend this as a first-time-ever soldering project, but this should be good for anyone with experience in (successfully) soldering electronic components.

Seems great
I have no idea. I thought it'd be simpler than what it is, but, I have no skills at soldering at all. All the pieces are here, tiny pieces mind you, so I am guessing it is fine. Unless you have some practice soldering already to practice on this thing, might not be for you.

Includes instructions, great way to introduce kids to soldering. All parts included.
The set comes in a static protective bag, and includes all the materials needed and a set of instructions. If you have not had prior soldering experience, the kit maybe overwhelming, but if you piece it all together and approach it after viewing the instructions a few times, you should be fine. Patience is the key here.I have yet to build the kit, but I have looked over the instructions and reviewed the parts and it all seems to be there. I plan on building this with my daughter 11, whom has a huge interest in everything I do.This is a perfect gift for anyone getting into electronics and or soldering in general. Again, instructions are there, preplan and be patient.
