NRT, Russian Bible, Paperback (Russian Edition) Paperback – July 2, 2024

Russian is not my first language, and I've always found the Russian Synodal translation of the Bible hard to understand. This New Russian Translation reads well and is understandable.In the pictures, the left Bible is the printing from 2014, and the right is the new one from 2023. Here's some comparisons between the two versions:2014 (Left):The paper feels nice and is heavierAt the beginning of each book is a short background and outlineThe print is SO smallNew (2023/Right):The paper is thinner and cheaperThere's no background or outline at the beginning of books, but the footnotes remainThe print is still small, but much more readableConclusion:The publisher removed some descriptions and changed the paper so that the print could be bigger, without the Bible being too much thicker. This is fine with me, as it makes the actual text easier to read. In the future, I would love if the publisher came out with a version of the New Russian Translation that had even slightly bigger text with thick paper that will hold up to a lot of reading. Right now this "mass market" version is the only one I can find. But I'm still very happy with the translation.

The media could not be loaded. I want to express my joy and gratitude to Biblica for investing in this translation! As a primarily Russian speaker, I find this modern translation easy to read, allowing me to follow the author's thought process without struggling with outdated terminology. This book is definitely worth its price.However, there are a few areas to consider for improvement in future editions.Pros:1. The 8.5 font size is a welcome enhancement over previous editions.2. The double-column format with references at the bottom is excellent.3. I appreciate that the text of each speaker is clearly identified and distinct from the main text.4. Overall, it provides a great reading experience with a clear language structure.Cons: The main drawbacks relate to the binding and paper quality:1. The yellowish paper can be difficult to read in low light conditions.2. The uncoated paper seems low quality and may fade quicker over time.3. The binding is glued rather than sewn, which is expected at this price point.4. The cover is quite thin; one of the two copies I received arrived with damage from shipping.5. After a few weeks of use, I've noticed issues with the cover separating.I would love to see improved print quality with upgraded cover and paper in future editions. Overall, I'm happy that the NRT translation is now available in print.
