"if this one got lost, stolen or broken, I would replace it right away."
This little Wellray laser rangefinder should find a home in just about any tool box. For most of us it will probably be used inside to measure distance, square footage and even cubic volume in either metric or English standard units…and all this data can be stored for later use. It can be used outside to do the same things plus a lot more. One such use could involve a building wall hidden behind a hedge or other obstruction. Starting on the ground (if area is level), just angle up over the whatever and take a reading to the top edge of the target. It will measure this distance and the incline angle and automatically give you the height of the wall and the distance to it (as the adjacent leg of a right triangle). It is sometimes handy to measure the height of trees, towers, power poles etc. and these can be done in the same way. It can be used for small surveying jobs (up to 500 ft.) and many other jobs that come up in life. The only problems I could find with it were a lack of strength in direct sunlight and I am having a little trouble finding a thread adapter, to use it on a small tripod. I think the tripod mount threads are metric. This is a very nice looking, well built and engineered tool and if this one got lost, stolen or broken, I would replace it right away. I would recommend it to anyone who might have a use for such an item.

Handy for Random Tasks Around the House
I bought the Laser Measuring Tool out of curiosity and have used it for various random tasks around the house. While I don’t use it actively, it has been great for those occasions when I need a quick and accurate measurement. The features, like the angle finder and electronic calibration, add to its usefulness. Overall, it’s a handy gadget to have around!

Works as intended, difficult to learn
Over the years, I’ve bought lots of different gadgets and tools. I can typically figure them out on my own, and only look to the instructions for special features or tips I may not have realized. however, in this case, I did not find this intuitive and did have to follow the instructions to figure out how to use it. That being said, once I figured out how to use it it worked and gave me reliable measurements.

very accurate
This device is a little complicated at first but once you get the hang of it, it allows you to make measurements quickly and easily. If you do projects around the house this is much more convenient than a long tape measure, etc. quite small and easy to handle for any size hands.

Works
This thing is great. Works as well as my navy-blue-brand laser measuring tool. It's a bit pricey for being an "offbrand" but it works quite well.

Good measurements over large distances
I wanted to get photos of this in action, but honestly it's not really a device that's best reviewed in photos.I'm going to tell you specifically what I needed this device for, how I used it, and how it performed.I needed a room measured. I had already tried to measure the room with one of those rolling wheel measuring devices (you push it kind of like a broom). But because of the layout of the furniture and desks, it was hard to get a reading that I felt I could trust. I knew the room was around 40 feet, but I suspected i might be off by as much as a foot.Well, enter this device. I measured and, indeed, it was 38 feet and about 11 inches. Over a foot away from where I had thought it was because of having to mode the wheel laterally.I haven't explored every single feature and situation, but one feature I really appreciated was the one that has two modes: one that includes the length of the device and one that ignores the length of the device. WIth this feature you can place the device flush against a wall and the device will account for its length so that you get as accurate a measurement as possible.I tried repeat measurements and got what I feel is good consistency when I measured wall to wall.I'm happy with this device, and really happy it can measure distances well over the size of any of my tape measures.

most inconsistent device I have used for measuring
Got 2 of these for work, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't and the measurements are very inconsistent I can't depend on it. I am better at pacing out the distance than this thing is at reading it.

Excellent long range accuracy and features, but maybe there are better choices
Once I figured out how to use this, found it has excellent accuracy and often can replace my tape measure. (I’m checked it many times in the 24 feet and under ranges against my tape measure.)There is a manual, but no quick start guide that walks you through basic steps. I had some confusion and went to the web to see if I could find more info. Couldn't find any reference except Amazon for this model (although lots of links for WellRay golf rangefinders). But ... I did find links to many other construction rangefinders, many looking nearly identical, so much that suspect they are being made on same assembly line. What sets this model apart is the 500 foot or 150M range with 1.5mm accuracy. Descriptions and some videos from these others helped me to understand the features, and how to measure things like a room's area and volume plus some trig calculations. Really like that the unit also has an always visible digital inclinometer instead of bubble levels. When used inside, everything worked fine but outside in daylight I could not get long-distance measurements (suspect you must be able to see the laser red dot). I did pull a 412 foot measurement at night that seemed accurate but didn’t verify. There are a lot of things to remember with the unit and WellRay really should include a quick-start reference guide you can keep with the unit. Highly recommend too they put up a video on YouTube. If you are looking for the longest range and accuracy, this is a good choice. If around a 160 foot and +-2MM is acceptable, there are choices under $30 on Amazon or pay more and get features like color screens and ability with an app to Bluetooth paste measurements into an image on your phone.
