Amazing vermiculite acts JUST LIKE vermiculite!

You should know, what you get is nothing like what the picture shows. You get vermiculite that is as thin as sand. Not chunky like shown. However, it does the job from what I can tell. Vermiculite is very versatile. The dust isn't bad like perlite. It doesn't smell bad, super light weight, so it's easy to tote around from plant to plant to mix with soil. All in all the quality and value for money is good. You just don't get what the image shows.

Good quality and clean

I have no way of knowing, nor any way of knowing whether this is truly of US origin. None of the packaging has any information to back this up, and people are selling vermiculite meant for the building trades which has been treated with water-repellent chemicals as "horticultural vermiculite". I simply cannot tell if this is the real deal or not. The color of it is much darker than the major, well-known brand I buy, and the texture is weird too. I just don't have confidence in this.

I do a ton of gardening and houseplant work, and for different projects I like to make my own soil blends and mixes, which is why I ordered this product. I add it to soils when I want to make sure that they both drain well, but need some extra moisture, especially in the summer when it's hard to keep my thousand plants watered. It's also great for adding to mixes for starting seeds since it holds onto water well. The bag I received appears to be about exactly what I would expect and how other brands have looked in the past. My only constructive criticism is that it would be nice if the bag was resealable. Otherwise, so far so good. At the current price of about $10, I think this is a pretty good deal and would consider ordering it again. I also would recommend it to other gardeners looking to make their own soil mixes!

This is a good deal on decent quality vermiculite. This kind of vermiculite is a little finer than I like for my mixes but it's perfect for topping seeds rather than burying them with mix. it's airy enough to let seedlings move and establish good roots while keeping them enveloped in just enough moisture without getting soggy.

This product is very finely ground and not what is represented in the photos or description!! do not buy this!! What you will receive is what it says others are more dust than chunky vermiculite. I suppose you get what you pay for. Returning

I much prefer vermiculite over perlite. It seems like vermiculite has fallen out of favor in recent years and I'm not sure why. Both products help with drainage, but vermiculite also holds on to some water which can be a great help for those plants that need good drainage but also tend to dry out really fast. I always mix my own potting soils and have for years--I noticed a huge change for the worse when I ran out of vermiculite and couldn't find more locally. I'm so glad to have found some here on amazon. Highly recommended.
