Truely stellar customer service (goHardDrive), as is vital for used (aka refurb) hdds
First time refub buyer, long time hdd buyer. at ~22/gb with tax, this is a pretty damn fine deal, although there are cheaper drives on "auction site" (ahem). However, those drives have a 90 day warranty and this one has 1 year (also backed by amazon, if there are problems, so win-win-win).My first drive had 32,173 hours and 1 Reallocated Sector. The hours were what I expected (refurb drives are server farm drives which have reached the end of their warranty. This means they probably still have good life in them but they are now a capital liability for the company). However, the reallocated sector was undesirable, and I reached out to goHardDrive through their direct customer service email and literally asked for their thoughts. Within 24 hours, I was offered a pre-paid shipping label and a replacement drive. No quibble, no worry, just solutions. I'll update when I get my replacement. While I wait for the replacement, let me say that reallocated sector count of 1 (raw value) was concerning but by no means indicates that the drive was junk. It means that I pulled something from the middle-bottom of the distribution of used drives rather than from the top (which would be something with similar hours but no reallocated sectors). And with their great customer service, I can make another draw from that distribution and look to get a better pull.

Minor trouble
I give 4 stars. Ordered 8 of these for a raid array, 2 of them immediately started showing a bunch of errors. The company stood behind them and replaced those 2 drives and all is well. The drives are performing very well. Pleased.

Used Enterprise Drive > New Consumer Drive? Let's Hope!
On sale at $49 -- a fantastic value. Both drives had no surface defects or bad sectors (seller tested and so did I). Good warranty from the refurbisher. Great packaging and customer communication, too. AMAZON, please take note and follow suit! Enterprise drives spin fast and run hot, but that's to be expected. YMMV, but the drives I received had 250 and 2,000 hours of "run time" on the clocks. Not sure if that's accurate, but if it is, that's awesome. I expect to buy several more of these to replace a bunch of perfectly functioning 2TB drives in my file server that have LOTS of run time (between 70,000 and 80,000 hours). I have been putting this off as long as possible because I need to transition between Server 2k3 and Linux, plus successfully migrate my online backup data WITHOUT having to re-upload a few TB of already-backed-up data. Wish me luck!

Be carful when using these drives!
These drives have a tendency to corrupt very easily, I literally had just gotten them in the mail and started backing up some projects, when both of them corrupted and caused me severe frustration. If you’re going to buy these drives and use them, use them sparingly and try not to rely o. Them too much or too often.

Drives replaced Highly Recommend
2nd Update:I received my replacement drives and they are all working without any errors. This seller has great customer services and stand by their products. I would highly recommend them for your drive needs.1st Update:The vendor has reached out to me to resolve the issue with the 2 drives reporting errors. So far I am impressed with the response from them to resolve the issues with the 3 drives reporting the errors.Original Post:I have connected the drives to my PC and now I continue to get S.M.A.R.T errors that the drives are about to fail on 3 of the drives. I am guessing this is because they are refurbished and not new. Other than this issue the drives appear to be working fine.If you don't need to use predictive failure feature on the drives these drives will work just fine.

Failing the DST
Technically the drive seems to be working. But I just installed the drive few days ago and it is already Failing a simple DST. Which means or is the most common reason is because the hard drive is about to fail if it's technically still working. So it appears and I bought a $50 refurbished hard drive it's not really refurbished ultimately. I pulled every hdd one by one and this new one is doing the ticking so. 2 things showing it's not going last. See if I can get refund and order from another maybe . Not sure just my luck or there work. Still waiting on refund. Still waiting for refund suppose now it won't be here until after Xmas .if I get it at all . No word from company ether..took a month to get a 30 dollar gift card to Amazon. Ironically 20 dollors short of what I paid for the hdd. Half way there and no culmination I assume it's there a you make it right..

So far really happy. iMac 2017 formatted exFat to compatibility PC/Mac
Received 3 Drives, safely packaged. Loaded into an external USB 3.1 hard drive array. Powered up and formatted. Decided to purposely do a 2.24 TB transfer to test. No problems. Opened up some of the projects and footage. These drives will be turned on and off for archival a few times a month. They are the second backup to my master backup. So far really happy. iMac 2017 formatted exFat to compatibility PC/Mac.
