Beyond the Isle of the Lost

From a 50 year old perspective... It is well written and a delightful book. Funny at times.
I am reading this book to my daughter. We are almost done, and I wanted to say that this is a really well written book. Many of the words in this book are targeted at young adults. It is not subjective in it's theme, or anything naughty by any means, but some of the words were too complex for my 11 year old daughter to read and understand. She approached me and asked if I could read it to her, and I believe any reading is better then sitting behind a screen, so I am reading it to her.The book is well written. Each page is a "page turner" and the only thing stopping you reading this book from start to finish in one sitting is the fact that you reading it in bed all cozy. Each character is well represented and fleshed out. All the scenes in the book make you want to visit them. Very engaging story.Well written, kudus to Melissa de la Cruz, to writing such a great book and taking my daughter and I on a wonderful journey.I want to add that de la Cruz, is such a good writer that she goes far and beyond repetition and doesn't use the same words over and over. That is actually hard to do. In my lifetime I have read many books, and one of my favorite pastimes is to read, and it is very rare to see an author write such a book with no repetition or dull moments. I write for work. I can even admit that I am repetitive in my writings and even dull at times.A fun whimsical book, great for all ages in my opinion.

Me and my daughter loved this prequel to the movie
Gives the background story on Red. The book starts a little slow with character development and setting the scene. Once you get into the meat of the story, you’re not going to want to put it down! It was a great summer read before we watched the new movie. My daughter is 7, I read it to her, she loves the Descendant series!

New story, new characters
Dela Cruz, did not disappoint. Walled off from Aurodon before her birth Red learns the meaning of friendship something her mother the Queen of Hearts regards as weakness. Red goes through humiliation time and again as she tries to create a world she would enjoy living, though it contradicts her mother. Have enjoyed the books and movies in this series and look forward to meeting new characters as this world grows and evolves.

Good book storyline a little predictable
First off this book was an amazing prequel to the movie the characters and there storyline are very interesting my only reason for giving four stars is that the story was a bit predictable
