Q: How many times does it ring before 1571 kicks in ? my current phone only rings 5 times so I would prefrably like longer to answer.

Hi. The number of rings is nothing to do with your phone but is set by your line provider (probably BT). You can change the number of rings before the call minder kicks in. You should have a user guide which you received when setting this upl, if you have the way to change the number of rings is shown on page 8. If not then you need to dial 1571 and enter your pin then go to personal options, calling options then current settings. That should tell you your curent settings (number of rings currently set) and give you options to change the number of rings. the choices are 0, 4, 7 or 10.

Q: Does this phone have a built in answer machine

Yes it does.... the red light on the top flashes if there is a message also when you pick the receiver up if someone has left a message the tone has a beeping sound unlike the usual purr of the normal receiver. To play message dial 1571 (with talk talk anyway). If you don't delete message after listening to it it automatically deletes in 30 days. Hope this helps

Q: Could anyone advise on the length of the cord supplied?

From point of entry into the phone to point of entry into the handset it's approx 18 inches (45cm) coiled and 36 inches (90cm) uncoiled and at a stretch. I wanted my phone wall mounted and this was far too short a length so I purchased a longer cord very cheaply on amazon. Hope this helps 😊.

This phone will meet your needs. I use a corded BT Accord 10 headset. All you have to do is press the 'Headset' button and the sound diverts to the headset straight away. Press it again to end the call.
