I started using safety razors about fifteen years ago when I felt that the cost for the disposable three bladed refills for my razor handle (I can't remember the brand) were hitting over ten dollars. Razor blades for safety razors are so cheap and I wanted to save some money. I got an Edwin Jagger, which is a nice, closed comb razor - thankfully it wasn't a very aggressive razor, so I didn't have too many nicks and cuts during the learning curve, but I do still get some when I'm being quick or careless. I got this Merkur on an extended trip because I forgot my Edwin Jagger, and I'm glad I did. It gives a close but very gentle shave. There's something about the shape of the head that seems to prevent me from accidentally nicking myself. I wish I'd gotten this years ago. This is perfect for sensitive skin or shaving areas with lots of curves and contours.

Excellent quality and precision machining. When paired with quality blades I get a close, comfortable shave with no nicks. Shaving with a safety razor does require a soft touch, so don't rush and hold the razor as you would an egg.

Bought for newly shaving teen son. Might be the only razor he'll need. Just the right size for him (he's tall).

Quality product, easy to change the blade, and the handle length is perfect.

I have never used a razor like this before and this made it very easy and comfortable to use would definitely recommend!

I gift these “older” style products to young men who are just stepping out of boy hood. I teach them the art of shaving, the way my grandfather taught me over 50 years ago. Shaving soap, brush, safety razor first, then straight razor later. They will thank you for passing this skill down to them! I promise! Some of their dads also pick up on this “old way” and fall in love with it! It’s time for men to be men again!!

I had a Merkur razor from 15 years ago, and I loved it. It always was the perfect shave. It recently broke so I went with another Merkur, but I wish I hadn't chosen this model. The blade is so far in that it's hard to get a good shave. I go over an area multiple times, and it still doesn't get everything. Maybe a different model of Merkur razor would work better, but this one doesn't work well.
