Update: I further reduced my review to a one star from two. I thought I could work through the custom setting process and get something that would work reliably with coffee. I was unable. I borrowed two units from neighboring coffee farmers, one unit was a $1,000 industrial unit. Both units came up with consistent results, however this unit did not come close. Also, repeated testing of the same sample produced widely varying results.Original: I would gladly give up the case to get a better functioning meter. The manual is minimal and confusing. There is NO contact address, phone number, or website to ask questions or get advice. There are 20 preset grains, none of which are coffee beans. On the list though are rapeseed and watermelon seeds. Can't remember the last time I had a whole sack of watermelon seeds to test. The listing implies creating one of the four "Custom settings" for grains can be programmed. Problem with this, is you need to know the moisture content of the test sample to check the accuracy, and to do that I need a moisture meter...wasn't that why I bought this? Seems to me the manufacturer could have included a much longer list of "common" grains with suggested settings, for instance saying the rice setting works for coffee. I will eventually get this thing to work. More information would have been nice, or a contact email for questions would have been even better.

I LOVE the case it comes in! Makes it easier to bring with in the tractor without worrying about it getting broke or any pieces getting lost orbroken! Plus compared it with 2 other testers and it was spot on accurate!

With this equipment I can measure the humidity of the grain, its weight, density and temperature. It has been very helpful in my laboratory and coffee roasting.

We use a lot of whole grain to make fresh, homemade bread with minimal gluten. It's always cheapest to buy it in bulk, so we often store a bunch in mylar bags until we're ready to use it. This necessitates knowing the moisture content so we can be sure it's going to be shelf stable for a while. We purchased a mini moisture meter some years ago, and that's been fine, but we wanted something a little more substantial.We saw this and were pretty excited about all of the functions we could use, both for wheat and for oatmeal. Unfortunately, though I read the instructions thoroughly, I had an extremely difficult time understanding them. Because of this, we haven't really been able to use it. I'm sure someone with more experience using these could decipher what to do, but our other one was much simpler, so we don't really know the ins and outs of moisture meters.Sadly, though I'm sure this is a helpful product for someone, unless the instructions are updated, people like me are going to have to do a lot of guessing or give up in frustration.

If you are into mycology, this grain moisture and weight analyser is a great addition. The analyser is capable of testing moisture levels in your grain or seed with about 40 different grain types and a few user defined ones you can set up yourself. That's important in mycology. Testing a sample so you know what moisture levels work best makes for a higher degree of success.Calibrating this analyser is a little tricky however. For my applications, simply knowing consistency between grain hydrations is more important once I know what works best, rather than knowing the analyzed sample reading is off 5%. I can set this to factory and take a reading from a known sample I had success with and make note of that reading. Then I have my baseline. It's simple that way and doesn't rely as much for accuracy as it does consistency.Another nice feature for me is that calibrating weight for sampling is actually quite simple in comparison to calibrating grain or seed moisture baselines. Just use the included 200gram calibration weight and it self calibrates in seconds. The reason you want weight calibration is for density. With that known variable, the analyser can better sample for moisture.All in all, I like it. It's quickly becoming part of the process for me in the lab. Recommended.
