Not many people still use fountain pens, and I was suspicious of a made-in-China pen for such a low price. I am happy to report that I am very pleased by this Beiluner pen, with fine tip. Writing with the pen is smooth, and the line width of Fine Tip is just right for me.Various postings have complained about the pen's writing being too broad and/or the ink spreads. This is the fault of the paper, not the pen. Writing on "printer paper" does not work. The ink spreads and bleeds through. This is part of the design of the paper for inkjet printing. Normal paper for writing has sizing to prevent spreading and bleeding. (Go to Wikipedia and search on "sizing" for more info.) It is like writing on newsprint instead of magazine paper. The pen works well with pages for school notebooks or stationery. Note: For signing letters, use quality "bond" paper. Do not use "printer" paper because of the bleeding, unless you want a big bold signature. Of course, the bleed-through would be convincing evidence that the signature is real, not just a printed graphic ;-)The pen with ink and cap weigh 32 g (1 oz.); without cap 21 g. Yes, it heavier than most ballpoint pens, but not a problem; I like it.The pen came with the "converter" insert installed, and that is good. I do not use disposable cartridges for various reasons. Some notes on filling: Immerse pen tip deeper into the ink to load than the instructions show. Must go all the way to the gold ring, or only air is drawn in. Test: Lower the piston to displace air with the pen in the ink. If there are no bubbles, it is not deep enough and will not draw ink. A side effect is that the ink bottle needs to have a lot of ink to be deep enough.

Very nice pen. Writes very well and smooth. Can use ink cartridge or buy a bottle of ink to fill the cartridge. This has become my new favorite pen.

I was excited to find these pens on a really good sale and thought I’d give them a try. They are gorgeous! I ordered a red and a blue and the pen color is just like the picture, dark and deep.I ordered the fine tip and it writes smoothly with very little scratchiness. The heft of the pen is wonderful! This is no lightweight plastic pen, this has some heft. It’s a smaller pen and, being a woman, I appreciate the size.

I've used fountain pens non-stop since elementary school. This is by far the best one. The quality is amazing. I live in Southern California where climate is very dry and fountain pens tend to dry out if not used for a day or two. This one is made so well that it's not an issue at all. No leaks, no drying out. Really, for the price it's amazing.
