Ferplast Rekord 4 Bird Cage with Green Bars with Accessories, Medium

A lovely cage, a lovely bright cage, my birds love it, easy to clean, but I didnt use the original dishes cus the opening looks so small and I was afraid they would get stuck, so I bought 2 stainless steel ones and fastened them on and they work brilliant, also I don't like spring loaded perches so ive bought the ones that look like tree branches, 100% pleased with the cage and can recommend,

Brilliant cage - bought for two canaries - would have loved the black and red one but was not available - came extremely well packed so no damage - only problem is with drinking tube - one of the lugs broke off after the first week - however can still highly recommend the cage and I would buy it again - my sister has since purchased the same cage

.... although this is a good-looking and well built cage which I would buy again if needed, it has two flaws. Firstly, as others have stated, the perches supplied are ridiculous in that their telescopic ratchet easily moves inward results in the perches frequently dropping down, which is extremely annoying for the owner and upsetting for the bird/s. Of course you can get other perches but this should not be necessary - Ferplast should do better.The second flaw is less easily rectifiable. The base tray entry has a row of "teeth". This invariably catches on the waste that accumulates on the paper or sand sheet - even with regular changes. We use sand sheets and these bow when wet after the bird uses his bath. So when you pull the tray out, the teeth catch on the sandpaper and mess and drags it all into the main base - which then needs to be dismantled and cleaned, rendering the tray pointless. I asked Ferplast about this and they say the teeth are to stop birds escaping. To get out of that narrow entrance they would need to be smaller than (almost?) any cage birds and have the dexterity of a mouse. Moreover the gap can easily be filled with a bit of old towel or newspaper, for example, whilst cleaning. Their solution is far worse than any problem they think it solves. I have resorted to using a metal file to remove most of the depth of the teeth!

Good cage, good size and, importantly, my cockatiel is happy with it.How resilient it will be is open to conjecture because parrots can be very destructive.I have had one of these cages before and it lasted 9 years which I thought was pretty good. The feeding boxes are clever being a rotating design and are removable for filling and cleaning.The water dispenser I did not use as I could use existing equipment. I have taken away one star because I do not think the perches are adequate. My little chap now has bespoke wooden perches fashioned from tree branches.Recommended.

NOT A SAFE CAGE, PERCHES ARE TELSECOPIC AND WHEN PULLED TO SIZE REVEAL JAGGED PLASTIC WHICH I PRESUME IS TO CLICK TO SIZE.GREAT FOR CLAWS TO GET CAUGHT.WORSE, THE SIDE FEEDING BOWLS ARE TOO BIG AND MY BIRD WENT INSIDE ONE AND GOT CAUGHT IN IT UPSIDE DOWN. HAD I NOT BEEN HERE SHE WOULD DIED. I CANT UNDERSTAND IT , I HAVE 2 FERPLAST CAGES WHICH ARE GOOD. I'VE PUT OLD PRCHES IN THE CAGE ,AND TURNED THE FOOD CONTAINERS FACING OUTWARDS. SO WHATCH OUT IF YOU BUY THIS. I WOULD NOT HAVE KEPT THIS IF I HADNT NEEDED A CAGE RIGHT AWAY. IT' GOOD POINT IS THAT IT IS A STERDY CAGE.
