Need Access to Second Monitor to Work
I got this cable to connect a monitor to a AIO with a broken screen. I couldn't get it to work at first so I tried it with another PC in the house and it wasn't working on that machine either. With a second monitor connected to the PC I changed the resolution to 800x600 and suddenly I had an image on the screen. I set the resolution back to its original resolution and it worked fine. Went back to the AIO and while it was a pain to do without a working screen I was able to boot it to 800x600 resolution mode and get an image on the secondary monitor. Set the resolution to its native resolution and it worked just fine. For some reason though the wrong native resolution for the monitor shows up when using the cable. My secondary monitor is only 1600x900 but it said that 3840x2160 was the native resolution.

It may or may not work with your equipment
Normally when you buy a cable, you connect it, and it works with no problem, and you forget about it. This cable is designed to do a HDMI to Display Port (DP) conversion. I got it to connect a Dell Windows 11 PC to a Dell monitor that has DVI-D and DP inputs. I would normally use a HDMI to DVI cable to make this connection because such cables less costly and don’t need a USB connection. However, the DVI input on the monitor was connected to different computer so I had to use the DP input to make this connection. When I made all the connections, I got a message on my monitor that it didn’t support the current display settings and I needed to change it to 1920x1200 with a 60Hz refresh rate. I checked the monitor settings on the PC and determined that it was set to 1920x1200 with a 30Hz refresh rate. The PC would not let me select any other refresh rate and so it did not work. I wondered if the problem was with the monitor or the PC video. I tried switching the HDMI cable from the PC to an Amazon Fire TV cube. The Dell monitor worked perfectly with a 59.95Hz refresh rate.It appeared that the problem was with the PC. I have a NEC monitor that also has a DP input, so I tried reconnecting the HDMI end to the PC and the DP end to the NEC DP input. This worked perfectly at a 59.95Hz refresh rate. Also, with the NEC monitor I could choose among several refresh rates. Because this cable needs power from a USB port, we can conclude that there is some circuitry that is needed to convert HDMI to DP. For some reason there was an incompatibility with my particular equipment.I have another monitor with built in speakers and a DP input. I connected this monitor to DP end with the HDMI end connected to the Amazon fire cube. The cable worked in this mode and the sound worked perfectly.I contacted the manufacturer and got and quick response that the problem was with the HDMI port on my PC was not up to HDMI 2.0 standards. This was obviously incorrect, or it would have not worked with the NEC monitor. (The monitor with speakers is UHD and I can easily set it to 3840x2160 @60Hz using the HDMI output.) I pointed this out to the seller and was told that if I think there is something wrong with the cable, I should return it to Amazon. If you truly need a cable with this function, it may or may work with your equipment. It did not work with mine for the desired purpose. Try it out, but don’t be completely surprised if it doesn’t work.

Works with PS5
If you have a monitor with display port only or your HDMI ports are just full, this cable will work just fine. I'm rocking a BenQ2780q monitor and a disk based PS5.Iong story short, my monitor, despite supporting AMD Free sync premium and G sync, doesn't enable VRR through HDMI. No matter the cable. So I've been trying to find out if a HDMI to DP cable would work. The answer so far with this cable is yes and no.Yes, it works with the PS5, but no, it won't allow VRR or in my case even HDR. I can do 1080p through 4K resolutions but my monitor only supports up to 1440p. I can still enable 4k and get a 1440p super sampled image with this cable though. The fact that HDR isn't available is a bit of a downer but not a deal breaker, and no VRR isn't the end of the world either. But I do wish HDR worked at least. The image is clear and I can't tell at all if there is any discernable lag or discoloration, which is a good thing! The chord is powered with USB. I plug it in via USB port on the back of my console and everything works perfectly great! It's the perfect length too. Perfectly suited for entertainment stands and or a desk set up.This cabe, despite the minor flaws I listed above, in my experience, is totally acceptable for anyone who can make use of an HDMI to DP cable. As long as you can live without HDR and VRR on PS5.

Works good, seems decent, long USB power cord, does need power.
I looked for one of these for some time Displayport to HDMI is common and simple to do but for some reason, the other way around is not so easy to do. This is why every one of these converters I have seen costs a good deal more and needs the power of some sort. The only things I would change on this is to make it powered off of the HDMI if possible and put some sort of marking on it to show it only works the one direction.

Didn't work for me
When I connected this from my laptop to my monitor, the computer could tell that it was connected, but no signal displayed on the monitor. I connected the USB to both the computer itself and a power strip, but the display, still would not come on.

Modifies the EDID of an attached monitor - Works well otherwise
I only have one monitor with DisplayPort (in addition to an HDMI input). Resolution of the monitor is 2560x1440. Connected HDMI to HDMI, my PC properly selects that resolution. But when using this cable to go from HDMI to DisplayPort, the PC thinks that the resolution is 3840x2160. I'm able override that to provide the correct resolution but shouldn't have to do that. I have tested this with both my desktop which has HDMI output only and my laptop+dock that has HDMI on the laptop and DP on the dock. The cable does the same thing when connected to the laptop or to the dock through a DP to HDMI adapter. A straight DP to DP cable provides the correct resolution.

Connects Computer HDMI OUT to Monitor DisplayPort IN. (Does Not Work With KVM Switch)
This cable is designed to connect an HDMI OUT to a DisplayPort monitor IN, but you may have to manually set the monitor resolution as it may not recognize if the output is HD or 4K. I could not get it to work with a multicomputer KVM switch for monitor sharing going from computer HDMI OUT to KVM DisplayPort IN. For a direct computer to monitor connection this cable is fine, but it likely will not work with a KVM switch.
