Great story about going out for dim sum and adorable graphics.

Many Americans know that Dim sum is an integral part of the Chinese (and Chinese American) culture, but the book goes a bit deeper and showcase how it is also a family bonding excercise. I think this is the only children dim sum book out there that puts the spotlight on the many other fun aspects about dim sum —how crowded it is there because family goes together, The carts that are rolled around etc. We were dazzled immediately by the illustration of all the dim sum in the inner binding of the book. Both my 4 and 2 years old kids love it!

This picture book is a delight in every way! Cece, her family, gazing at the fish tank in the restaurant, the carts, the tea, and finally, after waiting for Cece’s turn at the table, that delicious dim sum!! Soft yet spirited, gorgeous art.

My 2 year old loves reading this book! It’s been a great way to introduce family relationships and sharing to her. It talks about sharing between sisters, and my daughter is really excited about sharing with her new baby sister as a result. We went out to dim sum after reading this book repeatedly, and my daughter smiled from start to end, practicing saying ‘thank you’ by tapping her fingers on the table and marking our order.
