Inclusivity at its best!
The UDM Series follow a group of kids, each with their own struggles of being different. So many life lessons are brought to the readers' attention, in ways that are easier for young readers to digest. My favorite part about reading these books with my son was talking about the scenarios as they happened and why it was a good choice (or not) that the character made. I recommend these books for all children to help teach compassion, empathy, and standing up for what is right!

Wonderful series loved by a little girl
My 7 year old daughter purchased the first book in this series from a book fair and immediately fell in love. Over a few months she has read a chapter every night until she's finished the series. It's lovely seeing her so excited to read chapter books because she's found something magical and fun. She even plays Upside Down Magic with her friends. Some of the words and names can be difficult so it may be a good book to read with younger readers. If you're looking for a series that is fun and will capture the attention of your magic or cat loving kid, give this series a try.

Not like the movie at all....and that's GOOD!
"The book was really good. Nory turns into a lot of animals in it and the books makes the characters' magic really show. The scavenger hunt in it was really cool and if you like scavenger hunts then you'll like this book." -9 year old girl who read it.The above was a review from my daughter who finished the book in about 2 hours (maybe less). She loved the Upside Down Magic series prior to the movie and even had an Upside Down Magic birthday party, but she was so put off by the movie that she didn't want to read this book. I got it for her anyway and she LOVED it and is reading the entire series again. These are fun little stories to young readers with a lot of creativity.

Upside Down Magic Inspires Creativity
My niece and I read Upside Down Magic together - and have lots of fun talking about mixed up animals (the Kittingo is my favorite. My niece likes the Squippy)... and mixing up a few animals of our own. In this book, the Dunwiddle kids face big changes as Elliot prepares to move to the elite (yet wonderful) Sage Academy. Faced with losing access to her bestie, Nory tries her hardest to make Elliot want to remain at Dunwiddle. It's a completely interesting story about control, learning to let go, and the pitfalls of growing up - without much in the way of control. I love this series for my niece, as it creates some interesting frames of reference about what it means to grow up.
