Just What I Needed
Delivery period was about a week, but it arrived within two days via Royal Mail!I had fitted 5 AC/DC (work with AC or DC supply) LED GU4 lamps as replacements for 5 G4 Halogens running off a 12V AC transformer. After fitting they flickered. Identified the problem as the transformer and so bought this as a replacement. The transformer is rated at 12W max and the LEDs are 1.2W each making the total load 6W. Running at half its capacity it runs cool and no flickering. Works perfectly. The AC input side is marked L and N so if you don't have a colour coded cable you don't know which is which. ( I did a continuity check using a multimeter between the plug and the end of the cable), but I don't think it matters as the device is a class 2 selv unit with no earth. The terminals are quite small. The output is marked + and -, but in my case as the lamps are AC/DC it didn't matter which way round the connections were made.Don't know how long it will last, but as it is running cool at half its capacity, hopefully a long time.If it lasts, excellent value for money at £4.99.

Perfect for the job
I changed some 12v 35w MR16 lamps to the 3w LED version. The light looked just as bright, but the leds started to flicker after a while. Swapped one of the three lamps back to a 35w tungsten and all were stable, so reasoned the transformer couldn't cope with such a low load.Bought this item to replace the original transformer and all now works as it should. It's a nice small item that easily fits through the cut out for the lamp.Delivery was excellent, just a day or two after the order, so overall I am very pleased with the purchase.

Good unit but won't drive the full rated load
Unlike some other reviewers, I found no problem connecting mains wiring to this unit. Slightly fiddly perhaps but no more so than wiring often is.I did have the problem noted by some others in that it won't drive multiple units up to its maximum rated value. It couldn't even handle two 4W bulbs which was slightly annoying. It could be that these bulbs have a high surge current perhaps.Yes, this unit clobbers FM radio but I don't think it is the fault of the unit itself. I read elsewhere someone who investigated more thoroughly and found that it is the LED units themselves that are generating the interference, not the transformer. I have tried adding a choke on the cables with no effect which backs up his conclusion. All in all, a good little unit. Just be careful with the ratings.

For LED bulbs in kitchen halogen bulb light fittings.
Purchased to allow replacement of under cupboard hslogen bulbs with LED bulbs. Easy to fit replacing the transformer for the halogen bulbs. No flickering and no interference to WiFi or phones. Good quality.

Stable 12 volt DC supply for overhead LEDs
Our townhouse is fitted with dozens of small overhead spot lamps working at 12 volt AC HALOGENS to achieve better efficiency we have been replacing these with LEDs. The existing transformers for each light are slowly giving up on life they also make the replacement LEDs flicker as their output is 12 volts AC. The existing kit also had a special plug connector to the removable light fitting - themselves a pain as they spring fit into the ceiling plasterboard. The key benefits of these transformers are they have a 12 volt DC output, I can cut off the existing connectors and wiring and simply connect to the input and output connectors of the new transformers, the LEDs no longer flicker, they are low cost and easily fit into the ceiling void. Time will tell if they have a reasonable lifespan.

Great replacement for ikea wall-wart transformer if you're switching from halogen to LED
Easy replacement for the heavy and hot-running wall-warts that came (and may still come) with many ikea lamps running halogen bulbs. If you're switching to LED bulbs, just cut the plug off the lamp cable and connect it to the output +/- terminals (I don't think it matters which way round as the GU4 bulbs in my lamps don't have a polarity). Then connect some two-core mains lighting cable to the input live/neutral terminals - and to a mains plug with a 3 amp fuse in (this is for the UK).
