Easy to use and makes a change from all the other electric clocks.
I got this alarm clock because I wanted to stop having my phone next to my bed as a distraction in the mornings or evenings and it has worked very well. The clock is very nicely made and has a real traditional look. The alarm itself is very loud which works well to wake you up in the morning. The ticking is loud but you get used to it after a week and actually is quite a nice background sound to your room. The clock keeps pretty good time. After callibration you can get it to be within about 1 to 2 mins each day but obvioulsy after 3 days this means your clock will be out by 5 mins. This is easily corrected though especially if you have a watch which you can use to correct it with. So I don't see it as an issue at all as all mechanical clocks will need callibration and have some discrepencies but that is part of the fun of using them. All in all a very good product and would love to see them make some more designs where you could see the inner clockwork or something.

Doesn't keep time
I hate giving bad reviews, however on this ocassion I felt the need to. The clock itself looks really nice and I love the nostalgic tick, however it doesn't keep time, it loses 5 to 10 minutes in the night, which is unfortunate as I did originally buy it for my son to wake him up, and losing time in the night will not help with waking him up at the correct time.I reiterate it looks nice and sounds nice and it sends me to sleep.

Oh dear, oh dear
I wanted an alarm clock that had a VERY loud ring as nothing short of nuclear war will wake me up. This clock certainly has that. Trouble is the rest of it is beyond belief useless! It frequently stops. Just stops. Vigorous shaking makes it go again but if you're in the Land of Nod you can't very well do that. Then the knob to twiddle the alarm setting is incredibly difficult to turn and it only goes in one direction (anti-clockwise). The key to wind the clock is also very stiff. The elderly couldn't cope with it. Hell. I can't cope with it!Let's be honest about it: an clock that fails to wake you up on several different occasions because it keeps on stopping is just a heap of junk. I haven't bothered returning it to Amazon. I've just thrown it away.Take my advice: steer well clear of this one. If it was possible to give minus stars, believe me, I would.

Extremely loud alarm, great for heavy sleepers
This alarm is so loud i don't even want to use it. So if you're looking for something to wake up even the deepest sleeper, i think you have your clock! Honestly, the alarm does scare me too much to use. That sounds like an odd thing to say, but it's so loud that it jerks me awake and then i have to scramble to turn it off so it doesn't wake up the whole street, let alone my flatmates! Okay, maybe that's a little of an exaggeration, but it will wake up my flatmates it's that loud and it's not a gentle start to the day.The ticking is also reasonably loud, but no more so than the majority of ticking clocks that you can buy. It's background noise really, but bear in mind that everything gets a lot quieter at nightime and the ticking will become more noticeable. So if that sort of thing would disrupt your sleep or something, perhaps don't go for this clock. It's also quite a fast tick. I was expecting a slow one when i bought it, but it ticks twice every second which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does add more of a sense of urgency to the room than a slow tick would do.You have to wind the clock about every 24 hours to keep time and the keys are a little stiff, but nothing unmanageable.I am having a little trouble regulating the clock though. The instructions do warn that whilst it has been regulated prior to shipping, it might require adjustment and this is what my clock needs. It ran a little fast to start with so i tried to adjust it, but the 'lever' for adjustment is quite awkward to work with. There is simply a little slot within which is the 'lever'. It requires a thin stick or rod or something for access and when you try to move the 'lever' it tends to jump from one position to another. It's hard to move it small amounts at a time, which means it's taken me a while to get it configured properly. I think it's about there now after many tries, but i imagine once it's set up, the clock will run nicely, the only interference needed being the regular wind-ups.It is a nice clock though if you're looking for that sort of thing. If you want a traditional wind up clock with a tick and a loud alarm, this is great for the job.

Great Alarm Clock
I bought 2 of these (in gold and silver) for my 6 and 8 year old children who wanted an analogue rather than digital clock to practice time-telling. This has clear face and hands as well as a second hand. The alarm was incidental for me, but is loud and effective (separately wound). The face is about 9.5cm in diameter, and the body at its widest (back) 11.5cm.It has a loudish tick several times per second - so if you don't like that choose something else. We like the tick of clocks from different rooms.Runs for between 2 to 3 days max before the mainspring needs rewinding. 14 half-turns of the key to wind from stopped to full.. Keeps good time (it is factory-adjusted, and you can refine the run-rate by a recessed adjuster at the back). The alarm is turned off with a straightforward lever between the bells that stops the clapper moving. The winders and time/alarm setting controls at the back are quite stiff on both of mine, so children may need some assistance till their fingers and hands strengthen, and it won't be suitable for those with arthritis. We like this clock and I'd recommend it.
