Easy to fit
Bought two of these and the separate remote controls for this fan. Easy to install andReally made the room cooler. There is a gentle hum through the ceiling but to be fair all the ceiling fans I’ve come across do this as the ceiling multiplies any sound like a huge speaker.

Good Quality Fan but...
Overall a good quality fan that once installed looks and functions very well after a little tweaking. However I did find that some of the pre-tapped (threaded) screw holes were not formed or finished properly and required some hand dressing to get the screws to bite. Also the screws provided are of an inferior quality and very soft which doesn't help when fighting to to get them started in the aforementioned holes. In operation it's very quiet (noisiest on the slow setting with a faint but discernible mains hum from the motor) but to address a slight imbalance/wobble on high setting I had to physically bend the blade mountings to bring all blades into alignment.Don't let the gripes put you off, this is still a very good fan for the price which looks more expensive than it is and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another.

Excellent stylish ceiling fan
Perfect, easy to put up takes between 1/2 hours to an hr, just make sure you secure the mounting screws into the ceiling joists not just into plasterboard to ensure there’s enough support apart from that very nice well worth the £50 price ticket.

Great value fan, ideal for a lounge or bedroom
Great fan at a great price, easy to install with minimum fuss. NO remote with it, as mentioned above, but simple enough to operate with normal controls. Have enough remotes to last a lifetime, so dont want to confuse the wife any more than necessary ;-)

Good looking fan, great brand but very disappointing performance.
I purchased this Westinghouse ceiling fan for my bedroom. I purchased this fan because of the reputable brand name and also because it was very reasonably priced. Upon opening the box I normally do an inventory count to make sure that all the bits and pieces are correct. I found that there were some missing screws and the screws were quite critical to the assembly of the fan. Because I had an electrician already booked there was no point me sending the fan back because I would have had to pay the electrician for his time to come out again, so I had to go to a hardware store and to match the screws to the ones that were falling short in the packaging. So far it was not a good start. The instruction manual is very confusing and I feel that it could have been simplified within a couple of pages instead of publishing a catalogue of absolute rubbish. The assembly of the fan is quite straightforward and you do not have to be DIY competent to put this together as most of it is common sense assuming you have all the right bits and pieces in the packaging to start off with otherwise it becomes very frustrating. The fan is very easy to hang up and doesn't take that long at all. I didn't use the extension Rod that came with the fan as I wanted the fan to be quite high up as possible as I have low ceilings in my bedroom. I purchased to go with the fan an infrared remote control unit. I have done a separate review, but the long and short is that do not buy. Room is very tight inside the main housing and trying to hang the fan up with all the wires and the remote receiver unit was a proper struggle. The fan isn't that Powerful as I thought it would be during the hot summer months I found that speed number one and two were useless and that I had to use the fan on the faster setting which was number 3. The airflow doesn't reach that far in the room although the packaging states that this fan is suitable for rooms up to 15 square metres I would question that because my room is 12 square metres and I feel that the air flow wasn't sufficient on any of the speed settings. Because of the struggles I've had with missing parts having to pay an electrician to rewire the ceiling rose and also to install the fan it didn't make sense for me to send the fan back to Amazon hence why I have kept it. Don't get me wrong it is a good fan, it looks nice it's just that it could be better performing and the listing should be more accurate in terms of it's air flow coverage. On a plus note the fan is extremely quiet on all 3 speed settings. I would say that this fan would better suit a room which is about 10 square metres anything bigger than that then it's worth going for a bigger and more powerful fan.I have another fan bought from B&Q unsure about the brand but it's the same size and it is much much more powerful. Even on the lower setting the fan gives a good breeze of cool air.

Good Value.
I left the drop rod off on mine so that the fans fit closer to the ceiling, so their was a bit of extra cable to fold up into the top housing, but that worked ok. I liked the way that the ceiling mounting plate has a small hook to support the fan unit whilst you fiddle around with the wiring (so your have both hands free to do so). I liked the plug and socket arrangement too, which makes it easier to install. Now I know how it goes, I can remove the fan unit from the ceiling mount for cleaning or redecorations in minutes.Very pleased.

Brilliant for the hot weather
When we had the hot spell I seriously considered air conditioning. As a first step we installed ceiling fans in our bedrooms. These worked very well, quiet enough to let you sleep but with a flow of air which kept us cooler. A lot cheaper than a/c and just as effective unless the temperatures get really high.We ware both impressed with the Westinghouse fans, quiet but effective.
