My favourite
I doubt that people who are looking for Derwent pencils need a review. You probably know everything about each line pros-cons-applications and there’s no need in opinion from a third party. But here I am :)These (Coloursofts) are honestly my favorite pencils of all time. They are thicc and oily, pure pleasure to explore the colour palette. They are also very soft so you shouldn’t sharpen them too much. Best results can be achieved with soft short round tip; sharp tip will break. Layering is beautiful and with light pressure you can vary from thin to full coverage. Mixing is also easy and doesn’t require any additional blenders or burnishers. I am a rookie and find these easy to use and have fun doodling and drawing simple stuff.

Lovely, lovely pencils.
I am a crafter not an experienced artist but I enjoy using colour in various media. I already own Derwent Inktense pencils and love them and the effects they produce. I decided I wanted to buy some regular colouring pencils too, specifically for colouring books. I took a look at Youtube for guidance and found Peta Hewitt's two videos comparing and demonstrating a range of different pencils from the staggeringly expensive Luminance pencils right down to Crayola. These were in her top half dozen and within my price range so I decided to go for the tin of 36 pencils. I love them. There is a good range of colours and they have behaved exactly as PH demonstrated. They blend well but they do have a waxy texture and this limits the number of layers that can be put down if you have a heavy hand; this does not affect my colouring attempts though. I bought separately the pack of two blender pencils, two burnishers, a sharpener and a rubber and, with the exception of the sharpener, these work brilliantly with the colours. I just use my old basic metal sharpener instead.I have a couple of slight gripes - I don't much like the red in this set because it's a bit dull tomato rather than a bright red and there's no dark green. However the pencils can be bought singly so I should be able to remedy that easily enough.

Like Light Diffracted
My 22 year-old Uni student, daughter has a penchant for those wonderful colouring books that one sees spreading everywhere in retail outlets and also online. She finds it a relaxing and enjoyable pastime and acts as a foil against stressful university life!I saw a great wooden box of these on Amazon’s Black Friday promotion and thought ‘what a great idea’. Although, by the time the cogs in my brain had whirred round a bit, I was too late to take advantage of the offer, but decided to buy this wonderful long slim presentation tin of coloured pencils. These are simply amazing, and it struck me that if one is going to spend a few hours on such a hobby, and why not, then it makes sense to have some quality materials to really bring on good results. These beautiful crayons do not disappoint and they make for an amazing Christmas present which any colourer, drawer or artist would be delighted. They also serve as a useful bridgehead into the wider Derwent range and I have a feeling I will be buying more.As an added bonus, I see that they are Made in England and such products can be pretty rare these days, so it comes as a nice surprise that not only are they of excellent quality, but also, from the tin, seem to have a thriving export market. Simply wonderful – and don’t get me wrong !

Great, soft pencils!
These are Excellent!I never took colored pencils seriously as a medium, but I have to rethink that with these. I also had problems with colored pencils being to hard and it was difficult to get clear and good color with them, but not with these. While many other colored pencils are hard like H pencils or harder, these are, as the name indicates very soft, like 6B grapite pencils. The color goes on very easily and is clear and bright. It's easy to make extra colors by blending, and the selection of colors is good in the 48 color box. The wooden box doesn't take up too much space on the table and looks great.Because they are so soft, you may need to sharpen them more often than hard pencils, and they may wear down faster. Also, because they don't keep their sharp point well, harder pencils may be better for very detailed work. Like other soft pencils, they can smudge if you drag your hand over the drawing. This doesn't matter to me at all because of how I use them, and is how I expeced soft pencils to behave.A wonderful tool for spontaneous drawing in full color.

Amazing
Some of the best quality pencils out there, super soft, blendable and easy to use. Definitely recommend for people doing A level or GCSE art

very good pencils, only a bit too soft for me
I will start my review from listing the advantages of the product:1. The pencils have beautiful, vibrant colors.2. Leads are very creamy (these are wax based pencils) which makes it relatively easy to blend the colors. though they are too soft for my taste (it is hard to get fine details done)3. Leads are thicker comparing to any average pencils4. They erase wellWhat disappoints a bit is the fact that with these pencils it is practically impossible to lay more than just few layers of color (The art work looks artificial, layers are not built up nicely). I was trying to apply different solvents - that didn't give much added value.I have bought a 24 pieces set( I have purchased them for testing), I won't buy them again - I prefer a bit harder leads
