Perfect darkness for peaceful sleep
I bought this for making curtains to block out the light pollution we are cursed with at night. This fabric does exactly what it is supposed to - it totally blocks all visible light. At night, our curtains are a rectangle of absolute, glorious blackness. The only reason we know it is morning is by the light escaping around the edges of the curtains (not a fault of the fabric!) and the birds singing. The fabric itself drapes nicely, doesn't fray and is easy to sew. It feels smooth and slightly rubbery and is certainly not beautiful but as a lining you don't see much of it. You could always hide it behind another layer of lining if it bothered you.

Great Fabric, Very Satisfied
Very effective at blocking light - blocks 100%. If you end up with some fabric that doesn't block 100% of bright sunlight then the seller has given you a fake product and make a claim for full refund. The fabric is pretty heavy and one side pretty smooth and one side a bit rougher.I am renting and so I always use command strips to hang them up: 4X Command Large Picture Hanging Strips, 17206 (Each Pack contains 4 Sets)You need to use a fair number of strips because the blackout is heavy - but it leaves no marks when you take it down. Just remember to push the fabric against the strips quite hard for 30 seconds and use the rough side, otherwise it is likely to fall down later. Also leave a bit of spare fabric on all sides which blocks light from the edges a lot better. We have previously bought 12 metres and are now making a new order for another 10 metres. It's lovely to be able to wake up exactly when you want and not at 6am when the room lights up with the morning sun.

Great, affordable answer to 5am sunshine!
Brilliant, simple fabric. Was looking for a temporary solution to block out the morning light from scorching our retinas in our bedroom, and give us a little more privacy until we decorate properly and can then splurge on some proper curtains. Quickly sewed some curtain tape along the top and voila! The cheapest way to a good nights sleep! Very solid/dense fabric, slightly off-White/grey in shade (doesn't worry me) so doesn't look very appealing by itself but it's not meant for that- however suits my purposes perfectly.Update March 2018These 'temporary' curtains, originally bought for their blackout qualities last year, have provided some great insulation over the winter and recent cold spell. That wan't my first consideration but I have been impressed by the difference between having them drawn, and not, when it's been really cold.

good value for money, decent product
Good fabric to work with, doesn't fray, heavy, nice feel to it. Wasn't sure which side was which but judging by online research its a matter of preference.Does a good job with blackout and was a very good price through the supplier. Good width of fabric - wider than the curtains we were lining and came as one large length of fabric.Am only missing a star because there hasn't been any noticeable improvement to heat in the room being contained and this was listed as a thermal curtain lining but perhaps I was expecting too much.

Quite impressed
I bought this material to make some blinds for my conservatory roof ceiling - it took me a few days of work in a hot conservatory to get this idea in action. I used strong Velcro to stick on the panels between the plastic sheeting on the roof (NOT on the corrugated plastic!!) and had to staple the other part of the Velcro onto the material - I’m so pleased with the outcome and glad I followed my intuition to put this together or in this years heat it would be scorching hot in there by now, rendering the room useless for any human purpose - but this has made it much much cooler! I still need to tidy some of the blinds up - but this has been a cheaper alternative to having blinds made or anything else done for the time being. The material does have a little smell to it when it gets very hot - but this shows how hot the temperature on the roof is and also that it holds the heat away on that side of the blind. I’d recommend this idea to anyone! Fantastic material

Very effective and great value for money
This has done exactly what I needed - Like many others I am now working from home and use skype and Zoom a lot for meetings. I have a small window directly behind where I sit and even with the Ikea blind down, the amount of light coming through was completely burning out my camera so all that the other person was seeing was blinding white light. I added TWO curtains over the blind, but still the same problem. I bought this and it did the trick immediately on its own. Because I expect this to be a temporary measure, I simply curled the top of the fabric over a piece of dowel and taped it - job done! There have been some comments about the colour/texture, just to explain: The two sides are different colours - one side is kind of silver/gray and the other very slightly off white - I would call it 'moonlight' So, I simply put the 'silver' facing outward and the 'moonlight facing into the room - AND it arrived VERY promptly - unlike a lot of stuff on Amazon where I suspect a lot of vendors are using the current crisis as a false excuse!

Good for blocking light, but the material smells!
This material does the job: I used it to line a pair of home-sewn curtains, and it makes them very effective at blocking out light.Unfortunately, it really stinks! I made the mistake of not putting the material through the washing machine before using it. I gave the curtains to my boyfriend and for months we couldn't work out why his bedroom had an unpleasant musty/sick smell. Finally, we discovered that the lining on the curtains was the culprit, and had managed to make his entire (very large and airy) bedroom smell terrible.Even after a wash, some of the smell remains! We'll have to wash them again. At the price, it's hard to complain too much. If you buy this fabric, make sure you run it through the washing machine at least once before using, but be aware that you may even need to run it through twice or more.
