Bahco 8pc chisel set
I bought this set as I have had a Sandvik chisel as my favourite mainstay for more than 20 years and as I understand it this comes from the same company so I have a reasonable expectation of more of the same.I always preferred it as the ease of sharpening to a fine honed edge and holding it was much better than any other chisels I owned. The box is fine and not damaged in any way as mentioned in other reviews but that is not any part of the reason I bought. Quality steel is. I have done some small jobs sofar and they are very nice to use.Fantastic price for a greater variety of chisels. Thanks

They hold a sharp edge for a long time.
There is nothing that I dislike about these chisel's. I got this set as I had a 1 in chisel of the same make and I really abused it using it on every thing including bricks and it never chipped the edge. These are the only chisels I have ever had that are honed an sharpend by the manufacture when you get them. I will definitely look after these in my remaining years. I would add that I am a City & Gilds of London Apprenticed trained Carpenter/Joiner and I am 73 so I speak with many years of experience.

Good Tough Chisels a Good Set To Start With or Go on A Job With
Good chisels for the money. I paid A$110 including postage which was at least $60-80 cheaper than the same chisels on ebay. The edge: finish on them is pretty good but as with all edge tools you have to sharpen them when you get them. The claim on the box sleeve was "Now sharper than ever " or similar. The probably are sharp enough for building site carpentry or framing. The one thing I noticed was tooling marks running down from the top of the edge bevel to the end of the edge giving the edge a slightly toothed effect. If you want a razor sharp edge these will have to go. It takes a bit of work using Paul Seller's method because the steel is quite hard but the steel takes a razor edge. I used a 30deg angle . Toughness: despite being bevel edged chisels the sides are quite thick , as thick in fact as a 1950s Pexto registered chisel. So cleaning out dovetails corners might not be these chisel's strong point. However they will more than cope with chopping mortises using the Sellers method. Forget the box a nylon or leather chisel roll would be better . Handles: the grip is good and they won't roll off the bench, My hands are medium to small and they were about as big as I would want, anyone with bigger hands would have no problems.I knocked 1 star off for the box and the tooling marks that affected the cutting edge. These are not Lee Valley chisels but then they are a 5th the price and good value. One type of chisel design can't do everything and as beginner's or those who expect to take their tools into areas that might suit pretty top end bench chisels these are well worth considering. Just be prepared to put in some work if you want a good edge before you start using them.

BAHCO 424-p Chisels
- very fine tools, the items arrived in a flimsy wooden box but the quality of the tools outweigh that.- Nicely honed accept one chisel but that's not to worry.- bahco chisels are a well branded product and are exceptionally good at tool qualities.- I bought these in a hurry as i had a final exam in carpentry and i needed quality tools to help me out. i bought the chisels in the last minute not knowing whether they would arrive in time but they did... two days early in fact! i ordered using super saver and ordered on Friday night the 2nd and they arrived on the 5th (Monday) (Using super-saver) so i am very pleased.- However if you are thinking of using these chisels for pelting with a mallet, they don't look too strong on the handle and may split.- And finally, the packaging comes nicely protected so there's no worry in splitting the box enough in fact to wrap my staffordshire bull terrier in it and take a picture. .. .. ...

Great Chisels, shame about the box
Bahco! Really? Such a good set of chisels, but the box is dreadful. There is no padding inside the box so the chisels rattled around ( I guess during delivery ) until the box fell apart inside and the hinges fell of. What I got delivered was an excellent set of chisels and a plastic bag full of match sticks. Seriously, Bahco, sort it out!I found a pair of 38x22 hinges lying around and struggled to find some appropriate screws, a mere 10mm long, but eventually managed to repair the case, adding some internal strips of neoprene to stop everything moving around. The latches on the other side are just as bad but mine were still working so I left them alone. Then I threw the box out and put them in a chisel roll. I guess most people will do that so the poor box won't bother them.Surprisingly these chisels arrive honed so they are ready to use from the get-go.Highly recommended but you need to spend another tenner on a chisel roll or some better hinges. I opted for a chisel roll because on thinking about it the box is just a storage issue anyway. A roll I can just pop in a toolbox.

Beautifully designed and made all at an affordable price
I used to be a carpenter/joiner but we had a car crash now I cannot work so I keep my hand in in the garage/workshop/mancave. When I worked these were my go to chisels unfortunately you can’t help who is allowed to work on building sites and ended up having chisels hammers and a hole host of tools mysteriously disappeared on me

Useless box. Will see how good the chisels are in due course
If you’re expecting these chisels to arrive in a decent box that you’ll be able to use long term, you’ll be disappointed. The box is the most flimsy construction. Cheap wood and cheap fixings. I hope the chisels are significantly better quality.
