Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 Razor with 13 Blade Refills

I'm sure I'm not alone in never buying replacement blades for my razor.I always buy these sets, and then when I've used all the blades buy another set.Gillette, Wilkinson Sword, I'm not really fussed, I just tend to buy what's good value at the time.This is the first time I've bought this Hydro 5 system, and I'm very pleased so far.You get 12 blades plus the razor which already has a blade on it, so 13 blades in total.It's a 5 blade system. Do you need 5 blades? Who knows, but it seems fairly standard these days.I do like the gel on these. When wet, the gel swells slightly and gives a very soft and smooth glide over your face.I don't always bother with soap. I often will just use plain water.That can be a little harsh and dry with some razors, but these are fine, very smooth and they leave the skin soft and supple without any razor burn.Overall, I'm impressed with this system. I particularly like the built in gel, it really does work well.I also like the fact that you can clip the top piece that's contains the gel, back, so reducing the height size of the head. This works really well, especially for shaving the difficult bit just under your nostrils.With 13 blades in total, it represents good value for money, and I would happily buy again.Recommended.I hope you found this review helpful.

This is billed as coming with 13 blades but it actually comes with 16, so it's slightly better value for money.The flip-up plastic edge that runs along the top of the blades enables me to get a closer, more precise shave along the edges of my moustache.The blades themselves are sharp, long-lasting and fairly easy to keep clean. The overall product has a decent weight to it, a good amount of grip and a premium feel.Pros:- more blades than advertised;- good sharpness;- easy to clean;- design allows for precision shaving.Cons:- none that leap to mind

I don't normally write reviews but felt I had to with regards to this razor. Now I prefer a wet shave and had been using Gillette's proglide razor but started looking elsewhere due to the rising costs of the razor blades. I tried one of the subscription options, namely Harrys, but was unhappy with the quality of the shave so cancelled before the next shipment was due. I bought this pack because it offered value for money and, I have to say, this razor is far better than the Gillette Proglide, I get a much smoother shave which I genuinely didn't think was possible and, best of all, no irritation at all. Equally there is a considerable price difference between proglide blades and hydro 5. At the time of writing a pack of 8 Proglide blades on amazon is £21.65 whereas a pack of 8 hydro 5 blades is £16.25. If you're thinking of making the switch from Gillette to Wilkinson sword I would highly recommend it.

Ok so been using Gillette for many years. But Uas I have sensitive skin I have always ended up raw afterwoods. If not straight after then a day or so later. I've tried Wilkinson Sword before and found them good. Decided to buy this on a Lightning Deal. Glad I did.There are 5 blades on each head. But WS have a guard they use on their blades which make shaving soooo smooth it doesn't feel like you actually cutting any hairs. Ok sometimes you do have to go over an area, more than twice in some cases too, but even after multiple passes I don't feel raw afterwards. Also I've yet to cut myself with WS blades.A cool feature which I absolutely love is that the top of each blasd head, where the trimming blade is located, comes away from the rest of the blade (see 4th photo at top of page). This makes 'cutting in' under the nose and around the ears a sinch! Remarkable! This is what I call inovation. Not Gillettes stupid rollerball action thing!All in all I'm a happy shaver! I payed £16 odd for a razor with 13 blades! Absolute bargain! And seeing as I only shave twice a week (although I do shave my whole head), and also have a 'Razorsharp Razor Blade Sharpener/ Cleaner', this pack will literally last me 2 or three years! Happy dayz!

Don't normally do reviews but this might help others in deciding on these.So have used Gillette for over ten years, started with Mach 3 recently using the latest Fusion Power one with the battery thing. Anyways got a Wilkinson Sword razor and blade in some mens promotion thing, used it liked it. So when it came to stock up on my normal Gillette razors I thought I would try this pack for a change. Great value at £20 for a razor and 13 blades, £20 would just about get you 9 Gillette blades. Not just better value though, the shave is so much smoother and closer, seems like the blades are just sharper. I can honestly tell the difference. If I had a few days stubble and a less than new Gillette razor I could feel it pulling, these razors are much more comfortable and seem to stay sharp longer.Have definitely changed system and feel I will stick with these.EDIT: Still love these. Definitely getting more shaves per razor.New Edit! Just coming to reorder these as I only have 3 blades left. Checking my original order date looks like they will have lasted me a year shaving twice a week!!

I wasn't looking for a razor - as usual, I was having trouble finding blades for my current one in my usual supermarket! So, I decided to check out Old Faithful and there found what seemed to be quite a good deal. I'm getting around 10 quality shaves per blade and so am not anticipating needing to go shopping for blades for a while and whilst I reckon that my old razor would have picked up the new blades OK, my new razor feels nice and new and I couldn't resist it what with its adequately flexible head and rubberised handle all. The handle does get a little slimy when wet with the shave gel but this, I consider, is no real problem. Recommended!
