Great product at a great price
I love this olive oil, it has slightly peppery taste which is characteristic of really good quality and a sign of freshness. For those who have been to Mediterranean regions this taste will never seem too bitter and will demonstrate high concentration of polyphenols – one of the key reasons why olive oil is so nutritious and beneficial to your health. I add it to my salads and soups which gives them an incredible aromatic touch of Mediterranean cuisine and also have a spoonful in the morning, which is recommended for longevity and good gut health.

Really Special and Healthy Pure Virgin Cretan Olive Oil
The 3L can of Olive Oil from Crete, Greece 'Nikolaos' is of Premium Quality and we rushed to open it and try it. It is a beautiful green colour and tastes delicious: you can feel the purity of the olive oil which is so different from oils bought in supermarkets here in the UK. Additionally this special olive oil is cold-pressed and the area it comes from means it is rich in polyphenols which indicates that it is extremely good for one's health. We expect to place further orders with this company. By the way the Olive Oil arrived rapidly the next day after placing the order and was very well wrapped for the transport to our home in the countryside of South West England.

Good in every way
Delighted to find this olive oil. Here's why: I was looking for one with good health promoting qualities. I wanted one made from an olive variety with higher polyphenol levels, which this is. I was looking for a harvest date, which this has (recent, too) and additionally, from a family company if possible. This olive oil fulfils my wish list. It's delicious and very healthy. It smells fresh, nice fresh green colour, tingles the back of the throat - just exactly as I understand a good olive oil should be. I believe this oil is the one I will be refusing.

If you’re going to look for reviews - READ THIS ONE.
REGARDING BITTERNESS - PLEASE READ.A good, fresh olive oil—especially one high in polyphenols—SHOULD taste bitter and peppery. Those bitter and peppery notes are actually signs of quality and freshness. Here’s why:• Bitterness: This is a direct result of polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants. The more polyphenols, the more bitter the oil usually is.• Peppery or pungent sensation (like a tickle in the throat): This is also a hallmark of polyphenol-rich olive oil, and it often causes a little cough—that’s totally normal and even has a name in the industry: the “one-cougher” or “two-cougher” test.• Freshness: Fresh olive oil will often taste grassy, fruity, or green, and might have a slight astringency. In short, if your olive oil is smooth, flat, or buttery without any bitterness or kick, it might be old, low in polyphenols, or overly refined.

Superior Olive Oil
This oil is absolutely delicious. Cretian olive oil in my opinion, is second to none, and Nikolaos Oil is no exception. Lovely, fresh peppery taste, which enhances any food you add it to.

A high quality olive oil from Crete
The olive oil is slightly cloudy with a slightly fruity aroma, which are good signs. I find the olive oil slightly bitter, but NOT rancid, which indicates a high polyphenol contentwhich is an indicator of good quality olive oil with health benefits. This slight acidity is comparable to alicin in a fresh clove of garlic and is not noticeable when added to food. The slight acidic taste is reduced by adding a little sea-salt.A label on the tin gives date of pressing and a Best Before date of almost 1 year. This is definitely a much better quality olive oil with more flavour than supermarket own-brand oil that I had been using.I add a tablespoon of olive oil as a supplement to my morning Herbalife shake. The olive oil adds medicinal benefit and adds texture and slight thickening to my shake.I also cook with the olive oil which adds flavour, and enjoy the flavour when used a dip for bread. At time of purchase it cost £12/litre which is more than I used to pay for supermarket olive oil. However, I bought this olive oil principally because of its nutritional, medicinal, and health benefits and therefore regard the price as slighty expensive but acceptable. It is impossible to put a price on good health. Research has clearly shown that a Mediterranean diet is particularly healthy because of the daily use of olive oil.I regard this purchase as an investment in maintaining my good health in my mid-70s.

Good quality extra virgin pure olive oil.
I have bought many olive oils from Crete trying to find one that ticks all the boxes and this I think is the one for me, It has a nice flavour, slightly peppery and more green than yellow which I think is a good indicator.
