🧟♀️ Survive Together, Thrive Together!
Product description Left 4 Dead PC DVD .com Set in a modern day survival-horror universe, the co-operative gameplay of Left 4 Dead (L4D) casts four "Survivors" in an epic struggle against hordes of swarming zombies and terrifying "Boss Infected" mutants. Developed by Turtle Rock Studios and Valve, creators of the Counter-Strike and Half-Life games, the latest AI technology allows for multiplayer games of one to eight players.A new and highly virulent strain of the rabies virus emerges and spreads through the human population with frightening speed. The pandemic's victims become grotesquely disfigured widely violent psychopaths, attacking the uninfected on sight. As one of the "lucky" few apparently immune to the sickness, you, unfortunately, are also trapped in a city crawling with thousands of the bloodthirsty Infected. Alone, you're dead. But together with a handful of fellow survivors, you might just fight your way to safety.Players can play as a Survivor or as one of four types of Boss Infected, each of whom possess a unique mutant ability, such as a 50-foot tongue lasso or a giant belly full of explosive methane gas. The gameplay of L4D is set across four massive campaigns. The zombie population of each mission is choreographed by an AI Director that monitors the human players' actions and creates a unique and dramatic experience for them on the fly.

Excellent game, veteran player
First, the darkness of this game mixed in with erie quitenes at times really make you nervous. So it has the total feel as if you were in the movie 28 days later. So the mood is right what next?? Well I only play on expert and have about 50 achievements done on expert. Why expert? Well I dont find it that much fun not on expert because of a few things:1. Anything less than expert requires less team organization and teamwork.2. Harder the better, means you cant get sloppy in the game. The pros to game:1. Game requires a lot of teamwork even if you are pro at the game. Even pros make mistakes that still need the aid of the teamates.2. Graphics are good. One of the few horror games that still give me a scare.3. Very replayable. Different team means you need to get used to how you play.4. What few maps there are, are well done. The maps in my opinion in terms of difficulty from easist to hardest to finish. Mercy, Dead Air, Death Toll, Blood Harvest, Crash Course. I know Crash course is only 2 maps, but the finale on expert is pretty tough without great teamwork. You can easily have 11+ restarts with a poor team. It's the only map where you need at last one other elite team player, all the rest including Harvest you can do on your own if you are an elite player. Mainly in crash course, you need to re-start the generator which means for about 10 seconds you are a sitting duck.Cons:1. Needs more maps. There are 5 but I say it needs more like 10. There are add-ons but they just arent as fun as the originals.2. Bots in the group need way better AI. The bots are so stupid. You are all cornered up to fight a horde but the bot is standing in the way like an idiot. One time the bot took some damage during a horde and then started healing while the door was half way shut because he was blocking it from closing. Meanwhile the horde is beating him and wasting a kit. Then you cant fire because he is blocking the door way.3. Maps are a little glitchy; you can sit in certain areas and take advantage of the map glitches so that the hordes dont arrive as well as the specials. Ie. the rock in Death Toll.4. Ahh the hated Griefers. This class of person comes in and disrupts the game play by being stupid or kills your team because of friendly fire. Hence giving people grief. In short, they are game ruiners. You can kick them with a vote but they've found ways to exploit the game and keep coming back in. If the game makers were smart, they would have a stat counter run on them to see the average number of team killings and ban them for good. Griefers dont really bother me because I recognize most of them right off the bat and kill them first and then boot them. In all, they are a sad class of people who probably get picked on in school and then have to do something in a video game to make their already small self esteem higher...pathetic right?

It's NOT for everyone.
Especially if you only got an Xbox 360 to play it on. PAY ATTENTION TO THE GAME PLAY ICONS ON THE COVER!

Great game
I liked the survival horror they brought into gaming.I think more zombie games stemmed from this because of its notable success. My favorite part was 8-player versus - a competitive mode where player controlled human survivors are pitted against player controlled "hero" zombies. I would play as zombies all the time if i could, but each team of players gets to play as both survivor and infected on each stage of the level and victory is awarded to the team that collectively gets the farthest whilst playing as survivors. If you thought this was good, left 4 dead 2 is even better.

Total ripoff. Can't play it.
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas and she finally was able to make time to install it. The game cannot even be played. Everything was fine until installation process when she entered the CD Key. The CD key is already registered and cannot be used. She contacted steam to see if they could help transfer the key over but they could not. I literally spent money for no reason. DO NOT buy used games especially if they have to be played through steam. The CD key can only be used once unless the original owner unregisters his/her CD Key. I will never buy another used game for my children and I am extremely disappointed in Amazon for allowing this to happen. This happened to me for this game and the sequel. Thanks Amazon for allowing me to be ripped off over Christmas presents for my kid.

Multiplayer Zombie slaying fun
First of all, this is a 1st person shootem up game about zombies and weird mutants, so don't expect too many mind puzzles as the ones you would find in other 1st persons such as "Bioshock" or the thief series games. I'm a fan of 1st persons since Wolfenstein 3d, and one thing has been proven again and again, you don't need to much of eye candy to enjoy a game, for left 4 dead you don't need too much as of state of the art technology in your system specs to run it or play it with pleasure. Although you can play left 4 dead in singleplayer mode with bots as companions, Left 4 dead was made for multiplayer action. I haven't had so much fun with a 1st person shooter since Duke Nukem 3D came out. Now for those who enjoy both cooperative multiplayer action and like zombie movies you are in for quite a ride, and this IMHO what the game has best to offer. You get 4 persons or "survivors" whom you can choose from: Bill (the vietnam vet), Francis (the biker tough guy), Louis (the black guy, no offense) and Zoey (the female freak who likes zombie movies). You need teamwork to survive, rambos will have a hard time playing this game, you'll need each one of the survivors to protect yourselves from hordes and hordes of zombies who want to rip you to pieces and ocassional mutants such as the "hunter" who pins you down until another coop buddy helps you out, the "smokers" who pull you up with their 100 yard tongue from rooftops, the "Boomers" who vomit on you with their zombie horde magnet puke, and the "Tanks" which are the mutated badasses of the game who can punch through columns, throw cars at you and pound you like a piñata. As i was saying all of these will prey you from every corner, and every room, rooftop, and other zombie apocalypsed locations. How the hell are we supposed to fight and survive these things? Each survivor has an unlimited ammo pistol (which you can pair with when you get your hands on another pistol lying around for some unlimited ammo pistol frenzy) and can also choose from Submachinegun, Shotgun, Assault Rifle, AutoShotgun, Sniper Rifle. You'll find pipe bombs for attracting and making zombie nuggets out of their blasts and also molotov cocktails for barbecueing hordes of zombies. You have medkits for health and pills for temporary health boosts. The game brings 4 campaigns, which 4 levels each. A bonus campaign was released in Nov 2009, called Crashed course which contained two extra large levels. Level design is very good, some levels might be somewhat short, but not bad news since the action, thrills and suspense is non stop, thanks to the implemented AI director system by Valve (thumbs up) which makes Replayability virtually unlimited.Game has multiplayer versus mode as well, you can either play as the survivors or as the mutants i described. This game mode is not my preference but it is quite entertaining though.Graphics are good, sounds are very good, and multiplayer stability is great.Pros: Multiplayer fun! and endless replay value. My gripe: Not enough weapons, no melee weapons, some levels are perhaps short.I think this would have been a great game engine for a Duke Nukem 3d comeback. Valve has proven its worthiness in game making and if it is a zombie related game they are putting out i will buy it without hesitation.
