I’ve bought two barrels so far, the first one has literally been perfect. No leaks after a day, been curing it with Sherry for 5 months now prepping it for Scotch. Second barrel leaked at spigot until I pounded it in harder (user error), and hasn’t been a problem since. Only issue was the second barrel’s stand was broken due to the packaging. Overall, best pick of barrel for aging and curing!

I've had two others from a different brand and decided to try Red Head. I do think this is a slightly higher quality item though I had to give up the customization of the other brand offers. In the end, I decided the quality of the barrel was more important than the novelty of the customized laser engravings. I bought the 3 ltr size and use it for barreling Manhattans. Oh, it comes with a nicely produced booklet that suggests a variety of barreling recipes and options for how to season the barrel. Very nice!

I bought the 2 liter. It acclimated in my house for 3 days and then I cured for 3 days. Very good craftsmanship as I have no leaks at all. I’ve been doing a little taste testing as my spirit ages and it is adding great flavor. If your new to barreling or looking for a new brand I would suggest you try one of these.

I'm happy-ish with this barrel. I knew it was going to leak a little when it was new, but it leaked at a rate of almost a barrel per day for two weeks straight. To try to stop the leaking, I watched some of the manufacturers YouTube videos, and tried some recommendations, like seating the rings a bit more, as they may have come loose during shipping. I also tried sealing the barrel with some bees wax I had. These helped a bit, but did not stop the leaking.I contacted the manufacturer, to see what other recommendations they had. They said, bees wax will not seal the barrel, and I should use some of their barrel wax. They sent me a small amount, and I applied it to the leaking areas. It worked! No more leaking. Though, I did have to cover most of the barrel with wax. The wax darkened the color of the barrel a little, and I ended up just covering the whole thing to get it looking right. I emailed the manufacturer to let them know the wax worked, and to ask if this was a common issue. I haven't received a response.So, am I happy with the barrel? Sure. Am I happy with the customer service? Sure. They responded to my initial email, and sent me a fix. Would have been nice to get a follow up email though.

Great product

I aged my 120 proof for 6 months, turned out great. We drank it over the course of a year or so. Then let the barrel sit on the bar for over a year. Now it will not hold water. Leaks everywhere. Is there something I don’t understand?

I bought the 3L barrel to try my hand at aging an old fashioned. This was the perfect size to start. The barrel needed very little prep and was good quality. The only issue I had was the two dowels that hold the stand legs together broke. It appeared plastic to keep the barrel and stand together was wrapped too tight and broke the dowels. I emailed customer service to request a new stand. They got back to me the next day and sent me a new one. Very happy with the product and the customer service.

Working out great so far now playing the waiting game after seasoning it for 5 days.
