Great option for a durable knee scooter
Sitting here bored as I recover from double bunion surgery, so I thought I'd offer up my thoughts on the KneeRover Jr. All-Terrain Scooter. I wanted something with inflatable tires and all-terrain, and I knew that I wouldn't be happy on crutches for 2 months, so decided to buy this model. For starters, I'm 5'6" and about 145 pounds, so after looking at the weight and seeing that the Jr. is usable up to 6', I decided to go with the smaller version (red) with the 9" wheels. It was relatively easy to set up (pre-operation) solo, just check that everything is facing the right way. I read some reviews that talked about instability without using the training wheel, but a) I don't find it unstable, and b) the nut is too tight for me to even attempt to put on the training wheel without a hex socket wrench, so I didn't try.So far, I've used the scooter for about 3 weeks, starting from the night I came home. The scooter itself is easy enough to navigate, turns fine (sometimes requires backing up before going forward) and is narrow enough to navigate hallways. I like that it's easy to bring on a bus, you can lift it with one arm to get it up and down the stairs, and it fits fine in the back of my car. It's been lifesaver in the kitchen in particular, not having to balance on crutches. The pad has also served a dual purpose for me, as I use it to ice and elevate my leg. I did put on a t-shirt over the foam cover, because it's not a cloth material and gets wet and rubs if your leg happens to sweat at all.All in all, great scooter. I do wish it did have front brakes instead of the back brake, because that isn't terribly useful – sometimes I'll find myself scooting away and realizing the brake is still on. Also, if money wasn't a factor and I could do it again, i probably would "size up" to the bigger scooter, as I'm so active that I find myself wanting to adjust the scooter to various heights. Lastly, because the tires only inflate to 30 PSI, I'm not sure I'd call it truly "all-terrain", as it wobbles just going through grass, but it's still functional

Phenomenal Knee Scooter.
Prior to buying this I rode around jokingly on friends knee scooters with small wheels. I was instantly scared as they were sketchy and unstable. That's not the case with this scooter. When I took it into my podiatrist's office, it got a TON of comments about how nice it was, even by the Nurse!Being 6' 280lbs, I wanted something solid that I could roll around on and keep my mobility. This fits the bill.Highlights:1) The big tires are great for any surface. I've taken it through the house, gravel, grass, etc. no issues.2) Knee comfort. The pad works well. When it's hot, it will get sweaty, but my knee kept a good grip.3) Stability. Don't get me wrong, if you turn too fast in the direction with no foot, you can fall over. If you try something dumb, you can fall over. (I never put the training wheel on.)4) The basket is amazing, and very needed.5) Great over the top packaging.6) Easy to assemble with the included tools.7) Changing the tubes was easy with a set of bike tire levers.Lowlights:1) The valves on the wheels are not angled enough to get most air pumps on too. I ended up switching the tubes to a Specalized 60deg 12" tube and it's worked great. (THIS IS MY BIGGEST GRIPE)2) The Brakes are good, but I feel my rear wheel is out of round just a touch leading to a pulsating of the brakes. I've adjusted quite a bit, and they're still.... good.3) The grips tend to rotate, so you have to move them back occasionally. I thought about changing the grips but they aren't that bad.4) If you need to put the training wheel on or take the rear tire off, the nut was TIGHT. You will need tools.5) You will need a small head air pump to air the tires, and to occasionally top them off. (All bike tires lose air.)All in all I really like this scooter. I'd give it a 4.75 if I could based solely on the difficult to fill tubes.Other impressions based on other reviews/comments:1) The turning radius is big, I tend to just pick up the front end or whole scooter as needed.2) PRACTICE before you need it. There is a learning curve to understand your stability.3) The tires will scuff your floor if you slide it around.4) You will run over your toes if you go backwards.5) I lowered the knee pad to it's lowest position for greater stability.6) You will use muscles you've never used before. Don't just think you can go out and ride if for miles right out of the box.All in all, this is a great knee scooter. Highly reccomended.

Best.tool.ever for freedom during non-weight bearing recovery, indeed!
This thing is a tank, don’t let the “Jr” fool you. It would handle much more than my 5’2” 130# frame, and, as a 3-wheel, travels easily through a smaller layout home. Equivalent cost to purchase (open box-like new) of rental of a lesser model (for my necessitated timeframe), and much more suited to my needs and tastes. The tires provide traction and do not leave any marks whatsoever on hardwoods/tile floors. Haven’t been outdoors yet but sense it’ll take me through my yard and stone driveway. Functional brake with lock. Easy transport. Concave knee pad cradles Jones dressing. I’m not a “basket on the bike” kind of person but in this situation the little added basket proves it’s worth. As an otherwise healthy, fully active person, I’ve had no issue at all where I would need the included stability wheel, so cannot comment on its value, but one should consider her own challenges with balance when researching Knee Rover’s product line. Again, this is a solidly made unit but it should not be expected to compensate for operator capabilities beyond its intended use. As with any other aspect in life, one must respect the laws of gravity.Hope this review helps someone. I could not be more happy with my purchase and the mobility it is providing me!
