Love this thing.
This cyclone separator is just what I needed. It is overpriced in my opinion, but I could not find it anywhere else. But it does work and I am very pleased.

Works better than anything I've tried so far.
Yes, I think it costs too much, and yes, I'm still glad I bought it. I had been using a product that may be familiar--a lid with two ports, one of which has an elbow. That worked fairly well. This works far better. I had replaced the felt bag filter on my dust collector with a pleated filter. I was having to clean the filter frequently, and by clean I mean remove the cannister and spend up to a half hour clearing out the debris and dust between the pleats. Compressed air or running a flapper thing around the inside accomplished almost nothing. Since installing the Dust Deputy I have not had to clean the filter, and I would estimate I have been using it four or five times as long as the interval between cleanings that used to be necessary. So far, I do not seem to have lost any efficiency since the filter was clean. I made my own lid to fit my own collection barrel and found that the bolts that were supplied to fasten the Dust Deputy to the lid were too short. If I recall correctly, they were 1/4 20 bolts an inch long. Someone planning to make his own lid might need to take that into account.

Works amazing!
I bought this cyclone a while back and finally got around to modifying my ShopFox dust collector to use it. The 1.5 hp dust collector works great when it is freshly cleaned. The problem was that , depending on what I was cutting, or working on, it would clog up quite quickly. The course dust would drop into the plastic bag nicely, however, it appeared that most of the fines would move up into the filter bag. This meant that I would have to clean the filter bag frequently. If the plastic chip bag got more than about 10% full, the filter bag would begin clogging up quite quickly.I had seen good reviews on this Dust Deputy but was a bit skeptical. However, I was sick of emptying a bag that was only 10% full. Those bags are a pain to clean/change and make a big dusty mess in the process.Well, this thing works amazing! I had a couple of weeks off to work in the shop over the holidays and got to spend a lot of time working on woodworking projects. after these couple of weeks, here is what I have discovered. First I disconnected the trash can that collects the separated "goodies" before they can get to the filter system. The can had about 8" of dust/chips in the bottom. The plastic bag that originally would have had all the course stuff in it was completely empty, not a speck of stuff in it! I didn't expect that. Next, I took off the filter bag, I was expecting that the fines would have gotten past the cyclone and skipped over the clear chip bag and gotten caught in the filter bag. Well, that is not what happened; the filter bag was VERY clean, in fact, it didn't look like anything had even made it's way to the filter at all.Again, I didn't expect it would work this well. To empty the thing, I release the three clamps and the trash can drops down, I slide it out and put its metal cover back on and take it to the trash (outside).Anyway, this thing works amazing. If I were to change anything, I think I would have plumbed my dust collection piping with 5" or 6" pipe instead of the 4" I used. I think the 4" may be limiting my suction a bit, because it sucks a bit better when the shop plumbing is not connected. That flaw is my fault, not the cyclones. If you are skeptical about how well this works, don't be, I can't believe I didn't have this a long time ago. I am not getting paid to write this stuff, I paid full Amazon price for this just like you will. It's not often a product ends up working even better than you expect so I thought I would let you know.

Superior functionality-excellent value
I’ve been using this in my shop now for about 2 months. I have to say that it’s worth every penny. The two main complains I read were both valid: 1- I wish the bin was bigger and 2-I wish there was a sight gauge to know when it’s full. Those are the only 2 drawbacks, but I find them both easy to deal with. I used this to convert a harbor freight dust collector into a 2-stage collector and it works extremely well. I used regular 4” HVAC flex hose to connect all the parts, and bought a powertec brand 3 micron bag with a 5” opening to install over the exhaust port on the dust collector. This cyclone filters out everything except the finest dust particles (until it gets full). It does everything it claims to do fantastically well! Oneida absolutely is the industry standard for cyclones. The bonus of the small bin is that emptying it is very easy because it’s full weight Isn’t heavy. It’s heavy-duty cardboard construction also helps keep the weight down. It doesn’t seem flimsy, but I’ve been careful to prevent it from getting wet. Some other people complained about the price of the bin and the cardboard construction, but I have no issues with that.Overall, this is an excellent product! It has seriously transformed dust collection in my shop for my big machines: jointer, planer, radial arm saw, and table saw. If you’re on the fence about this product, I recommend that you DO buy it and make it part of your dust collection system. You’ll love it!

Superbly effective at removing lots of the dust from the airstream
I added a Super Dust Deputy to my existing 4" dust collection system because my new fine filter bag seemed to be collecting more fine sawdust than I hoped. With this cyclone I rarely have to empty the dust bag, just the collector drum – which is far less unpleasant than dealing with the dust bag. Highly recommended.
