Excellent Mechanical Pencil
This model of mechanical pencil has a kind-of fountain pen appearance, in that it has a click-on cap that covers the writing end of the pencil in a flush manner to protect a shirt pocket from being poked. A very cool feature is that with the cap off, the barrel's end-piece is removable so that lead can be inserted in the rear. After putting that end-piece back, you click it to advance the lead. When you post the cap on the back of the pencil, that cap's top has its own separate, removable end-piece which, when removed, reveals an eraser. The pencil performs very well and is cool-looking. This is my favorite mechanical pencil.

It’s purple!
Pentel Kerry. What can I say? Best of the best? Eh, arguable. Very long lasting, pocketable, balanced well to hold at mid point, engineered to precision(no lead wobble), comes in a variety of colors and limited editions? 100%. I have been using these for well over a decade and highly recommend. Just grabbing more recently for different colored leads for a traveling mechanical pencil kit. I now have owned 8 of these.Cons: if you hold near the tip, need a large grip, want an all-metal pencil, or need long pencils - you will not like it.(Since some have mentioned it)I have had these pencils for decades and have never once had a metal barrel. It has always been a resin or something. There may be some limited edition ones that were all metal(maybe the pentel 5 Kerry), but the average ones are not. The removable clip/top/eraser is metal. The tip of the pencil and the middle grip are also metal. There are also 2 versions for the cap that you take off to replace lead. They both can be interchanged just one is taller than the other so it pushes the eraser section up more when you flip the cap.The regular colors should be $10-15. The limited colors should be around $25-35. The pentel 5 ones should be around $50-100 and they even made a skeleton one with clear barrel to see the insides. (Insert drool). these prices are at time of review. So if you pay more just realize it’s for the limited supply or color and not a better version of the pencil. Purple being one of the out of stock colors making this one a little more.

A beautiful writing instrument
Apparently an item of limited availability, hence the price.

Favorite Mechanical Pencil
I like using it. If you post the cap, the eraser is is under the silver cap. It is easy to load the lead. I would prefer the 0.5mm, but it doesn’t come in purple.

Awesome Pencil. Not as purple as shown
This is by far the best mechanical pencil you can buy. It’s made with typical Japanese precision and attention to detail. I have a lot of them, in various colors and lead thicknesses. My only issue with this one is that the actual pencil received is no where near as rich in color as the picture.

Ugly price, but quality is as it should be, ugly price tho
I have 3 of these in pink aswell,, but recently changed my room décor to purple..sooooo what does that mean, time for a new pencil!!!!! It's price is very ugly..I've seen it as low as 35$ and as high as 85$..it's the same quality I expected..good balance and weight, the photo in the ad is spot on, at least for me..I know other screens might show different..I recommend this for people on the smaller hand size..this one wont be leaving my craft room because it's sure to grow legs in this house lol it's very pretty

My purple pencil doesn't work!
Straight out of the box, I was unable to extend the lead by pushing the button at the top. After viewing videos about the Pentel Kerry pencil online, I found I was supposed to be able to extend the lead two ways - either with the top on or off. No such luck. Returned after 15 minutes - it was cute while it lasted.
