Great Machine. Alexa issues though.
Coffee wise it's fantastic. The best Italian expresso there is.However, i am having major issues with Alexa.I have a huge amount of Alexa devices. My house is a fully functioning Smart Home.Light bulbs, plugs, floor lamps, cameras, diffuser, Smart TV's and Soundbars.I have everything and all Alexa integrated and voice controlled. The issue with this coffee machine is that it does not respond to the voice command.'Alexa make me a coffee. That's the whole point of the machine and for the life of me it will not respond. It's not a massive deal breaker just exceptionally frustrating. At £249 i expect it to understand simple voice commandsUpdate.I fixed the issue with the voice conmand.Initially Alexa discovered only a speaker when i set up the machine. This is the speaker that is built into the machine.I unlinked the coffee machine from my Amazon account and it then discovered the coffee machineVoice commands now work perfectly. Great coffee and now pours a coffee via voice command.Upgraded to 5 stars

Alexa make me a coffee
Awesome, the future has arrived lol.Not sure having an espresso maker with Alexa is a must have but it could certainly hold its own in a kitchen as the built in speaker is pretty decent. The voice integration works pretty flawlessly except occasionally when power has been off and it says ‘I would if I could but I can’t’ when you ask it to make a coffee, then it remembers it as a coffee machine again when you ask again.Makes a lovely espresso and the machine is very sturdy, aesthetically pleasing and well designed.

Unreliable
Really disappointed, the coffee is brilliant but this is probably the third or fourth Lavazza pod machine I’ve had and after about a year/ eighteen months they go wrong! This one leaks water all over the kitchen worktop and produces less in the cup! Lavazza don’t want to know because I bought it online!!

A lovely, if temperamental little beast
I held off reviewing this for a month or so, to see how it did.The TL:DR is: it's a temperamental little beastie, but I wouldn't swap it & it firmly has a place in our kitchen, as the ADHDers best friend.I primarily picked a Lavazza machine because, having tried multiple different ways of making coffee over the years, I wanted a pod-style machine so that I could have the strength of drink I wanted with the minimum involvement from my somewhat useless morning self. However, I had held off because I couldn't justify creating that kind of waste for something that wasn't a true need. Then along csme Lavazza with their compostable pods: whilst there are other recyclable ones out there, you have to empty them, crush them, & send them off. Not the kind of process I'd be good at consistently! All the Lavazza Modo Mio machines take the compostable pods, but Voicy in particular appealed as I have a couple of Echo Dots around the house to play music or podcasts when there is tedious housework to be done. I'm all for minimising the number of items on my kitchen surfaces, so anything that combines them is a win! Voicy was on sale as - let's be realistic here - the majority of people seemed to hate it. I *think* it was around £100 down from around £300!So, the positives first of all:- The coffee is lovely. It comes with a box of all the different capsules, & there is a noticeable difference in taste & strength- There are decaffeinated pods available, as well as organic - it's good to have both these options, & neither are more expensive than the other pods- The water tank is a really good size- The buttons have positive feedback & are set flush within the display, sealed, as opposed to there being a hole in the display which then has a button set through it - this means nothing gets in & you can wipe the whole smooth surface with a damp cloth easily- The machine isn't particularly noisy- The handle to engage or empty the pod is pretty easy & the Voicy firmly stays put when you do so - my partner has a Nespresso & I struggle to engage that handle sometimes, especially without the machine itself shifting- The only thing you have to do to clean it is pull out the container for empty pods when its full & empty it. This is two sections that you pull out as one - then you lift out the clear container which has drainage holes & contains the pods, tip them into the food waste, pour any drained water out of the black section, rinse, put the clear section back into the black one, & slot it back into the machine! So much easier & less maintenance than all the other bits & pieces I had to wash & de-grout with a cafetiere or an electric percolator- The drip tray is completely removable, meaning a regular-sized travel cup can fit under there too- The sound from the speaker is on a par with any other Alexa. I mean, it's never going to be the musicians choice, but for bopping round your kitchen or aggressively waking your damn self up in the morning, it's got it covered- And obviously, the whole point of having an Alexa-controlled machine: muttering at Alexa & having her sort you out a cup of coffee when even pressing a button is just too much to deal with. If you don't know those mornings, lucky you! Anyone who doesn't sleep well, doesn't do mornings well, or struggles to actually make themselves a hot drink because they're always either forgetting or too busy looking after everyone else & never get round to to it for themselves...it helps. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it really does help. Now, the negatives. Of which there are definitely less than positives, but they *are* annoying:- I like a long coffee as I dont have milk & an espresso doesnt exactly hydrate me. In theory the Voicy has a button for an espresso & one for a doubke espresso. But via the Lavazza app you can set the buttons to do whatever you want. I have set the double espresso button to its largest pour size, 8.3oz (245ml). This works fine about 70% of the time. But it also randomly resets to standar double espresso size, or pours a *completely* random size coffee. This morning we had three in a row - one the size I set, one about 150ml, one about 100ml. I have no idea why, I suspect it may be if I press the button to make the coffee before the on/heating light has stopped flashing but I will have to test. The complete reset to double espresso I haven't figured out at all- The app is pretty crap to be honest. Whoever designed it seemed to think it should be almost all about Lavazza & various tricks you don't need, as opposed to the machines taking centre stage. To make a coffee from the app takes four clicks - the whole selling point is that this is least effort! Open app. Press make. That should be it. I compensate for this by having Alexa as the default assistant on my phone, so one long press & a voice request. It's not too much of a problem in honesty, but it is bad design on the main selling point & undermines the whole idea- Its major fail is that is doesn't link up with the other Alexa's in the house. I can't play music through this as part of a group of speakers, only solo. The other Alexas don't communicate with it to make coffee. This feels like the biggest oversight possible considering Alexa is its main selling point which differentiates it from other Modo Mio machines- As mentioned, I got this at a third of the normal price. For £100 it's definitely worth it. For the usual £300? Not even slightly. It's gimmicks don't work well enough to justify that price tag. The coffee size changing randomly, it's inability to link with other Alexas in the house, & the dreadfully designed app are it's main selling points & they all fail miserablyFor the price I paid, I would abdolutely choose it again, despite the negatives. The Modo Mio machines in general are the ones I'd stick to, for their composing advangtage over all the others on the market. And despite its failings, then ability to make a coffee from my bed in the morning to make getting up that little bit more appealing wins out for me.

This machine is on a level of its own
What can I say an amazing bit of technology. So easy to set up, you can ask Alexa to make you a coffee and she does instantly. I set up a routine when I say Alexa good morning she turns the bedside lights and radio on and makes me a coffee perfect. You can tell the machine how many pods you have and set auto reorder when your supply drops to a certain level Amazon delivers the pods and updates the pod supply on the machine automatically. The machine has Alexa built in so you can do anything you can do on a standard Alexa, listen to music hear the news and control smart devices. Definitely my Best Buy of 2021.

I returned it because Alexa did not work
Good espresso machine, I chosen this one because listening to podcasts from my coffee machine seemed ideal, unfortunately it disconnected randomly one day from Alexa and never worked after, I discussed it with Amazon and they were very helpful with the return of the product.

Just REAL Espresso
It is easy to use but the most amazing thing for me is how good the coffee tastes. I am a coffee lover and the quality is really amazing. You can preset size and temperature to your liking. This machine made all the difference compare to the smaller one we had. And you get Alexa included in this one too. You just need the Lavazza app to link to your Alexa account, job done. Now I "talk" to my coffee machine, how about that!
