Q: Does this stop when you release the trigger or does water still come out

The item will stop when trigger is released apart from any bits still in the lance after the trigger section

Q: Does it connect to the mains supply and the water supply

It is described as corded electric which means it is attached to a 3 pin plug which fits to the mains. It is not battery operated. I haven't used it yet but was planning to attach a hose pipe to the outside tap and to the washer. It could possibly be attached directly to the tap with a suitable connecter. Maybe it could be used attached to a large plastic tank like a small battery powered one can be but with a 1400w motor that might not work too well.
