Traveled all across the states with this little kit in my old Jeep. Cleans up very easily and it’s the perfect size for my needs. I only use for camp so just hand wash and bungee up.

Great for backpacking

My daughter has been using my mess kit whenever she goes camping. I have the blue version of this and she just loves it. Since it is concave, food doesn't spill out. And it's a good size for a full meal. We don't use the cup too often but when we do need it - it works great for oatmeal, Hot cocoa, etc.I love how it stores into itself with an easy twist lock. We have another mess kit that has a silicone seal band (that we never need to use) that makes cleaning an extra step.Love that it's dishwasher safe.So yeah, after a couple years of using my mess kit, we got this one for my daughter

The mess kit looked like it had never been used, but the packaging was torn at all 4 corners. Kind of a bummer when you’re buying it as a gift for someone brand new and it comes jacked up. No time to ship it back and get a replacement so clear tape will have to do.My thought is, if the package isn’t destroyed, but someone returned it, call it new. If ANYTHING else, call it used and buyers can make their own choice.Aside from the packaging, all looks in order, I just look a little ghetto gifting used stuff for Christmas.

Edited to add: this has been such a handy kit to have while I’ve been isolated with COVID. I make a lot of instant foods (ramen, etc) with boiling water from an electric kettle. The mug doesn’t get too hot because of the double layers and the plate & spork are perfect for the job.I have one for each of us when we’re staying in a hotel. It’s so convenient to have basic supplies around! Very well-made! It would be helpful to have a small carabiner to put in the side hole in case you take it on the go. I packed sandwiches for the beach and just used hair ties to make sure they stayed closed.

While this set takes up space in my gear bag, I like that it’s self-contained. I use it for camping and on extended international trips when I typically buy cereal and soups to break the monotony of always dining out. The construction is sturdy and while it doesn’t seal to keep liquids in, I like being able to close it up without needing to wash out right away.

Love this set, it will be great for backpacking and car camping. I especially like that it locks closed and has a hole for put a carabiner in to attach it to the outside of your backpack.

I bought this for a mountaineering trip, but in the end it was too heavy to bring. I can't get the lid to secure; it keeps opening up in my pack. Overrated product.
