Punch 4000
I don't like to downgrade anything and I am sure that someone out there may really enjoy this product, however, after spending many hours trying to understand it, become so frustrated that I purchased another program. Again, it may be just me but after reading, experimenting and more reading, the program is not intuitive, you have to construct everything and tech support is practically non existant!

Long time Punch user switched to Chief Architect Arch Home Designer 9
I'm not going to waste much more time writing a review on any Punch product since I've already wasted too much time wrestling with the program itself. I originally bought AS18 and then upgraded to 4000 to use for sketching up ideas for my remodeling and design business. I've been using Punch for the past couple of years and overall the experience has been frustrating. I recently downloaded a trial version of Chief Architect Home Designer Pro and the difference is night and day. I was so impressed I immediately purchased the next version down the food chain: CA Architectural Home Designer 9. The interfaces are close enough that I was able to hit the ground running with CA and I couldn't believe how much more productive I was in the first few hours with CA compared to my couple of years with Punch. It's obvious that Punch doesn't have the chops to be a real contender and that CA is derived from a real CAD app (CA X2). CA is well organized and objects behave as you expect (with helpful intuitive features), unlike Punch. I'm so impressed that I will probably upgrade to CA Home Designer Pro 9 in the near future (which will give me better ability to control roof design and build my design in layers).Run, don't walk to CA's product offerings. Trust me.-- A happy convert.

very happy
i'm an interior design student and am disabled and cannot draw or draft so i got the punch 4000 series architect series. the computer that it was on crashed, to no fault of the punch software, and i'm looking to replace it. the last guy says that chief architect software is better but i just read some of its reviews and it sounds like +'s and major -'s. i'm starting an interior design business and i am studying to become an architect, this software is very very impressive. it is a lot of info to use but it is a usefull tool, i draw my friends houses and show them how my designs will look as well as their modifications. i will start a renovation company because i was an electrician for 6 years, not just electrician, electrician boss; i ran a crew. i know so much construction and because i cant speak, i'm always on the computer and am a bit tech saavy, my computer talks audibley so i'm into technology because it helps me. i think thats why the guy who reviewed the product negatively quit and switched to another software. it takes a while to learn but the software has how to videos on many things so it is easy to get started. i've used this software for many years and have become pretty efficient at it. it takes some effort to learn all it does, i still dont use some of the stuff it can do, i dont play, buy this software you'll be happy you did. the 3-d views are awesome and it is just all round impressive, especially for price.
