Staedtler Oil Pastels, 241NC25

Excellent pastels for a child learning to work with colors - a good transition from pencils. Juicy colors, not too messy for a 5 y.o. It truly awakens imagination and comfort level for young artists who are inclined to do more graphic work than work with colors. Can't beat this price!

I seldom do oil pastels, but for the occasional project, these are fine. The colors are bright and the ones that would be most used for a general project ( I was doing flowers). They worked well on the Strathmore 400 Series Artagain black pad which I purchased at the same time.

I have used this brand before, and they work well, small crayons but good color. I use more expensive brands for finishing up on paintings and these for blocking in and studies and quick sketch. I use paint thinner with them and they work fine. Below find a painting I did with these pastels plus Cray Pas and Sennlier and various brands from old children's art sets found at second hand stores.

How can you go wrong $9 and the color are sweet .

Love these pastels, they blend well and the colors are bright and fun to work with. Rated 4/5 only because I wish there was more of a purple selection, the only purple is lilac and I need my deep purple.
