Updated thoughts about this Acer
I had a different model of Acer a few years ago and it was just OK. This Acer is a very nice computer, I also have a MacBook but find I use this almost all the time these days. The battery is great the Chromebook is on for some 12 or more hours a day, not always in active mode but it IS on and the battery just seems to last & last.I justified the purchase saying I would use it for "banking" but have not found a good check book app yet, but I hope to soon. In the meantime it's a terrific web surfer. Connecting to a printer is a bit of a pain but now that it is, it works beautifully. It is extremely light feeling in your hands yet has a quality feel to it. I'm very happy with this Acer.As an addition to the original comments. Sometime in July the Chromebook just wouldn't fire up and since I'd become quite used to using this little guy I wasn't happy. I contacted Amazon and they arranged for shipping to Tx. for repairs. In about a week they had fixed the Chromebook and sent it back to me with an explanation of the repairs. It all made sense to me and I'm happily using my Chromebook again. However, in late September or early October the Acer failed again. Same problem, it wouldn't power up so I had to send it back to Texas on my dime and get it repaired AGAIN. Same repair solution as before. They replaced the battery pack again. It showed fully charged when it left home.It is back home now but . . . I'm happy to be able to use it again I still like the Chromebook but will probably buy a different brand if this happens again. Now some time later it seemed to fail to boot up again even though the battery was nearly fully charged and it was working about 1/2 hour earlier. This time I had left the sound turned up a bit and even tho it didn't appear to be working I could hear some news item from my home page chatting away in the background. So it was trying to work. I powered down by holding the power button for about 7 seconds and waited a bit more then fired it up again and got the sign on screen and all was OK. The lack of a power on LED on this computer is a not a good thing. So if your Acer doesn't boot up make sure it was really off and try again. It seems that sometimes the screen doesn't get the wake up call when sleeping so try again. It really is a good little computer and I've grown to rely on the chromebook for almost everything.

Good but Not Great
PROS:1. The keyboard was excellent, by far the best Chromebook keyboard I've ever used.2. The battery life, too, is excellent. I got about 9 hours with moderate usage.3. Beautifully designed, and indeed very rugged. The blue rubber casing is genius.4. Decent & loud speakers. Nothing too fancy, but much better than expected.CONS:1. Display is extremely dim, even on highest brightness setting. Very poor viewing angles.2. Performance. This is probably the biggest factor that drove me to return this Chromebook. The Chromebook couldn't handle more than 2-3 tabs. Even with 1 tab, it becomes choppy if the website is content-rich/heavy. It was very slow on YouTube. Compared to my Acer Chromebook 15 (which I love), this Chromebook didn't hold its own in terms of speed.3. Lack of USB type C. For a device released in 2017, I feel like this shouldn't happen, even on low-end machines. Conclusion: There are better Chromebooks to consider, namely the Acer R11 and Asus Flip. They both have touch screens, similar battery life, and priced well.

It died. It stopped working. No power. No nothing. $200+ dollars for six months of operation. Not happy!

microphone problem
I bought two of this Chromebook for my kids to use for Zoom meetings with their school teachers. All their teachers complaint that they barely could hear my kids. I also used this Chromebook for Zoom with my work staffs, they complaint the same thing. I asked them to score 1-10, and I was told a 2. I checked the setting, but there is nothing really I can control on Chromebooks. What should I do?????

2 things I really like. 1
bought this for my kid (7yo). 2 things I really like.1. sturdiness2. I can regulate what content she can access by using the google parental controls. Basically, I was able to create a child account under my own. And, then I can choose granular settings about what her account can/cannot access.

Great Chromebook.
This is a durable machine. It has rubberized parts around the edges that provide a little more protection. It has pretty decent battery life, a nice screen, and good size. It's a really nice computer for getting online quick. When I purchased it the price was perfect.

Great for remote learning
I bought this in March 2020 when my 10 yr old's school switched to remote learning. It is the same brand that he used at school so he already knew how to use it. We have had no issues with it and he is able to access email, video chats, and the internet to complete school work.
