Mega Bloks Halo Countdown

My 9 year old LOVES Halo, and loves legos and mega bloks now. We've been doing a lot of the Halo sets, and I happened to see after Xmas that they had a bunch of them 40 to 60 percent off, so I grabbed a dozen different ones.As with all the megablok Halo sets, it's done very well and looks great. I used to dislike the way things were packaged, unlike Lego kits that have bags numbered and used for specific parts of the build... But I found that ultimately I like the lack of organization since now I've showed my 9 year old how to get all the bags open and start sorting out all the parts into piles so everything is organized and easy to find. I think that, for me, is now a bonus since he's getting really good at sorting things, analyzing different parts that have something in common (such as angled pieces of different sizes and shapes going in separate piles but all together so when he needs some angled piece, he knows what part of the floor to look for) and planning how to space them out so the ones he has to get the most often are within arms reach. That to me was like a lightbulb going off, since I was able to turn the negative into a great teaching tool. Especially with the large sets like the Elephant (almost 1300 pieces to sort and organize) and the new Forward Unto Dawn we have (that is almost 2900 pieces).For a 9 year old, having the colored dots showing exactly where each piece fits is great. It helps for the larger sets since it makes it easy to get each section done. He starts out intimidated by the sheer number of pieces, but as he starts he just focuses on a step at a time and has learned that large things are comprised of smaller things, and that if you take big things in small sections, it's not so overwhelming. Always an important lesson for kids to learn.There were no missing pieces for us in this kit, something that's happened to me only twice with a Mega Bloks set. But they have a great automated system online where you don't even have to talk to anyone to get the piece shipped out, so it couldn't be any easier to get a missing piece. Everything fit fine - which is something I've had issue with Mega Bloks a few times, where the raised bumps weren't quite formed right and I had to pull out a knife and trim a bit for a piece to snap right.All in all was a steal for my sale price, and we're very happy with this kit.

HUGE set. I admit that MEGA Bloks are harder to put together than legos. I don't know why. It's a cool looking ship when it's done. Pain that there are so MANY pieces. Great shopping experience though!

The media could not be loaded.  The title says it all. This is a masterpiece. The design of the whole thing is so remarkable. The ship itself is of course the greatest thing in the set but the launch pad is so freaking awesome too. They both really compliment each other well. The ship is the first thing you build and it was fun to do so. It took me about 6 hours just on the ship alone and another hour or so to build the rest. I did this within a 2 day span. I love a challenge and this set delivered this without a doubt. Once complete it looks so cool and is actually fun to play around with even for an 'older kid' like me. That being said I would recommend that if you are buying this for your kid that they have some experience with building block sets.I did run into a couple of 'issues' that I feel I must point out. First is the mistake in the instructions that I found. At one point in the book there is a step that shows some pieces for you to lay down on the top of the wing of the ship but I noticed these pieces already shown applied in the 2 steps before it! I thought I missed it in a step before until I figured this out. Also there were a couple of 'fit' problems. The first one I ran across was for one of the jet intakes. It is connected with a little black technic cross beam. The problem was that it was not giving a good enough grip and therefore it kept falling off. I replaced it with an extra one I had and this fixed it. I also had the same issue with one of the landing gear pieces on the ship as well. Luckily I switched it with an extra piece included in the set and this fixed it. I know these things sound bad but I was able to resolve them easily and will not deduct from the score. The end product is just too amazing to do so. I would point out that this thing is very big. I had to clear off a whole shelf for it.I love it and do recommend it.

Buy this for the UNSC Sabre, you won't be disappointed. Yes the gantry and launch pad are nice but the Sabre is the real star. Solid construction allows for kids to zoom it around the room and the looks are better than any thing mega bloks has made in terms of aircraft. Here's a hint, the parts in this set can be used to make your very own Serenity ( Firefly) ship!! Buy it now!!

Wow. My 11 year old is a Lego-building rock star and it still took him several days to finish assembling this. The Halo figurines are popular for him as they are (apparently, according to his buds) limited editions. It is fairly large when finished and is maybe the only model we've ever gotten that remains on display in its original configuration this long after Christmas. Compared to the price of Lego models, it is worth every penny.

Got this as a gift for someone. Helped them put it together. Definitely for the more seasoned blocks user. Some of the pieces were extremely small and it would have been much better if each package held the pieces that were going to be used for each part instead of randomly thrown in.

When it comes to the look of the models, Lego is much more complicated and the final product looks great, but they do not have the playability that Mega Bloks does. The larger sets have much more "base building" involved, which gives them the structural integrity to actually be driven/flown around by a kid and not have all the parts fall off. Much more satisfying for the kid, and the sets are a good bit larger, so you don't have the disappointment of "that great big box made this little bitty vehicle."

This halo mega block set is a great addition to any collector stop motion or for fun. This set portrays an awesome level in halo reach its a must have .

Espectacular el complejo de la base de lanzamiento. Muchas piezas pero en una tarde con el peque lo montas tranquilamente. Está muy bien logrado pero hay que tener mucho cuidado al colocar las piezas, sobretodo por el color utilizado.

d'obbligo se piacciono le costruzioni e halo. ricco di dettagli e fatto veramente bene. munirsi solo di un pò di pazienza e di uno spazio per aprire tutti i pezzi prima di iniziare la costruzione ( da solo e con casa libera ci ho messo quasi 5 ore di fila, ho letto di gente che ci ha messo anche 2 giorni! )

finde das set echt super. das zusammenbauen braucht ungefähr 2-3 stunden und wenn es fertig ist sieht es echt hammer aus. das einzige das mich stört, nicht ab diesem set sondern an amazon, das jedes jahr eine menge halo mega bloks sets erscheinen aber amazon immer nur einen kleinen teil davon anbietet.
