Minecraft Redstone Handbook - Updated 2022
I have to admit I did not know what Redstone was - so asked my 9-year old who is an avid Minecraft fan. I then got a very detailed explanation with examples - apparently it's very useful stuff. This is a beautifully presented handbook from Mojang which tells you possibly nearly everything you could want to know about using Redstone in Minecraft. It starts with Redstone 101 - the basics of what Redstone is and what you can do with it. Before moving on to how to combine the different elements and circuits to build simple contraptions in the section - Putting it Altogether. The final section - Redstone Workshop - looks at further combining the simple contraptions into more complicated builds. What I especially like is how clear the explanations are - especially helpful if you're having to deal with a frustrated child whose build isn't going the way they want it to. I also like how it takes you through the more complicated builds step by step so that you are able to replicate them without too much confusion or backtracking.I think one of the things you come to understand from reading the book (as a non-Minecrafter) is how much is involved in making a successful Minecraft build - not just the building, creativity and survival aspects but also mechanics, engineering, using circuitry and logic gates. At 96 pages it seems like a short read, when in fact it's absolutely packed with information and at the current price of 5.33 is a bargain. The recommended age range is 9 years and up, and I think that's reasonable as there is a fair bit of explanation with the illustrations. But if there is someone in your family who loves Minecraft I would consider getting it for them even if they are much older than 9.Overall - a brilliant gift for the Minecraft fan in your family, especially one looking to expand their construction skills.

Excellent & Fun Learning Resource For Those New To, Or Wanting To Know More About, Redstone.
This book is one of several official Minecraft Handbooks that have been put out by Mojang, the creators of Minecraft. As such, the A% book is very high quality, with good quality covers and internal pages, and clear colourful pictures, fonts and layouts, that are all Minecraft themed. This book covers Redstone, which is Minecraft’s in-game equivalent of electricity and electrical circuits. As in real life, this allows you to create a simple electrical circuit, such as one to power lights and turn them on and off, too more complex contraptions such as hidden stair cases or automatic traps to catch mobs. Beyond these basic circuits that you might use to improve a build, make it more interactive, or to automate certain processes, Redstone can go even farther. By allowing you to create various different logic gate circuits, a highly skilled Redstoner can go on to create computational devices and even full computers within Minecraft itself. This book though, is very much aimed at the beginner/novice Redstoner. It takes them through the basics of Redstone, what blocks are used in Redstone, and how you power it. It then teaches more advanced Restone techniques, such as various logic gates, how to wire Redstone vertically, clocks, pulse generators, pulse extenders, etc. Throughout all these tutorials there are a series of builds you can try out, which implement the Redstone you have learned so far, with each build getting more complex the further you go through the book.Interspersed between these are three double page segments, where Jigarbov (a Minecraft Mapmaker and Youtuber) talks about why he likes Redstone, how it has changed, and about his free Redstone Tutorial Map (available for download for free from the Minecraft Marketplace), which makes a nice companion to this book.In conclusion this s a very nice book, that’s well written, has fun colourful illustrations, and whose guides and (progressively harder) projects are easy to understand and fun to build. I would recommend it to anyone new to Redstone, or who has learnt a little (such as how to wire up a light, or a basic circuit) but is wishing to learn more. If you already know the basics and are using logic gates in your builds, then there won’t be much new here for you to learn. The only negative I have, is that given how useful it is, I am really surprised this book didn’t cover T-Flip Flops. This is a circuit that is extremely useful for builders who just want to enhance their builds with a bit of Redstone, all the way up to the most convoluted computational devices. If I could I would knock half a star off for this, but as I can’t a full star seems churlish.~ Amazon asked me to review this product and to give my honest opinion about it. That’s what I have set out to do, so I hope you found it helpful. ~

Excellent Handbook thought the packaging could have been better.
The book was excellent with fine prints and thick paper. The dimension of THIS book seems to be a bit smaller then the Survival Handbook for some reason but that's alright. The packaging is what I dislike in this order. It was just a paper bag and no other stuff was used to protect the book which in turn damaged to cover a little bit. Amazon or the seller really needs to do something about the packaging.End of word: It's an excellent book but the packaging could've been better.
