We have a kitten who hates to be held for long and particularly hates getting her nails trimmed. She will try to scratch, bite, and will growl and yowl in a manner that frightens mere mortals. Since she likes to happy paw, and belongs to my 80-year-old mother who already has thin skin, I am the one who gets to trim her nails; however, I am not her "person" so she's already not fond of me holding her. After two trips to the vet to get them to trim her claws, I bought this and a zip-up sling. The combination of both works PHENOMALLY. I'm pretty sure she doesn't like getting the helmet put on, but I sneak up to her when she's sleeping on the kitty condo and pop it on and tighten it so fast she has no idea what's going on. I haven't actually used the booties at all because once I have the helmet on, I quickly ensnare her in the zip-up sling and pop one foot out at a time, trim the nails, put that foot back in there, and repeat. I can quickly trim her front nails within 5 minutes by doing this. I like that the helmet is see through which cuts down on her fear level and that it has air vents so she can breathe freely the entire time. It's quite sturdy. I dropped it on our ceramic tile floor from a height of about 4 feet and it didn't crack. The helmet will work for her even after she grows more since she's small to begin with. No more accidental snares from sharp kitty claws!

We use this to mollify our cat when cutting his nails. The muzzle is very effective. The paw covers sometimes slip, and they have little holes in them where claws sometimes show. But all in, I would recommend this type of product for people who need protection when working on their cat.

Way smaller than advertised does not fit.

My cat hates this thing, but it’s a must! My cat is a Maine Coon cat, who as he’s entered into his senior years, had kinda stopped *properly* maintaining his “hind quarters” and “undercarriage”... His lack of personal cat hygiene was becoming a MAJOR issue. Purchasing a cat muzzle and paw covers was his vets idea, and imperative for my safety if I was going to be able to offer him any help. The description for the muzzle states that it’s compatible with cats whose heads are 10.3 inches and 7.7lbs in weight. The muzzle pretty easily fits around my 27lb cat’s 10.5ish inch head and 13.5 inch neck. (Probably not exact, but very to the correct measurement. He started freaking out when I was trying to fit a measuring tape around his head and neck.). During his grooming he’s only been able to get the muzzle off one time, and that was because my husband somehow accidentally loosened the spring buckle. Also, the muzzles ventilation is fine, but we’re thinking of adding more vent holes. The paw covers do not fit my cat well at all. His paws are so large that they simply “overflow” over the sides of the paw covers. If we take our time to put them on him, he’s been less able to get his dewclaws out. We continue to use them with him because they work to an extent, but the issue is his size, not the paw covers. If your cat is smaller, you’d probably have no issues. The Velcro you use to secure/unsecure the paw covers with is white. After use, when it’s time to remove paw covers, finding the ‘end’ of the Velcro was extremely difficult. He wants them off quickly, and finding the end was quite difficult, so I took a sharpie and added a color to the end of the white Velcro, so I’d know exactly where the end was and could quickly remove the paw covers. I think this product was worth the money spent on it. I think I’d buy it again if I had to.

The way it’s designed it stayed put on my kitties head and having it on calmed him a lot. I still had to hold him by the scruff of the neck but no bites! This is the only thing that allowed me to finish shaving him.

I gave this product a 3 star because it looks like it will fit any cat but will probably only fit a kitten. I would definitely order up in sizes if you are a cat groomer - i havent had a cat with a small enough head for this to fit. Im sure if it did fit, it would be a great product. Will order bigger sizes next time.

The head piece kept slipping off and the mittens we didn’t even use because they were to hard for the cat to sit still to put on.

My cat hates his nails trimmed as he takes a lot of pride in growing daggers on his toes to scratch up the house. A usual nail trim takes a long time and he gets stressed out and I leave with both bite marks and scratches. This has been a game changer. The usual wild and crazy cat he is becomes immediately calm when the foot holders are placed on his feet. He will not even attempt to walk with these on so he literally lays on his back not sure what to do. The cute mask is great to prevent him from biting. The mask design fits well and the holes are big enough so he has no trouble breathing. This has made nail time easier and less stressful for everyone. He is sad he can no longer scratch up furniture, but overall this is great.
