We have these same dawalt tools [with brush motors] at work, they have been used hard for 4 years and have yet to fail. This informed my decision to buy. I have only had them for a few weeks, but I expect them to perform well. A nice feature with the newer sawsall is the 4 way blade install, I have not used it yet, but can recall times I wished I had it. Another pro to this package is the 2 - 5ah batteries.
