Good Product That Performs Well

I like the design of this product and functionally it does what it's meant to do.For anyone else reading I'll address some misconceptions from the reviews already submitted. This is not a "vocal booth" and is not designed to soundproof anything or stop the neighbours hearing you sing - it's sole purpose is to minimize reverberation coming back into the a mic. The mic will still pick up loud enough extraneous noise, but it does take away most reflections that mess up a vocal recording. As regards build quality, yes its made of plastic but at this price point for a home studio application it's not an issue, the plastic is about 4mm thick. The design is very good and the mic stand contact point is sturdy. In fact this unit replaces a metal one I had which after a couple of years use broke at a weld point.A note for the product designers: I would have liked a shorter supporting stem so a mic cradle can sit lower down or a fixing that goes directly into the bracket. Also, a "top hat" to eliminate ceiling reflections would be good (I took the foam out of my broken shield and put it on top which made a slight difference.

Top quality

This item was everything I was expecting, great value for money, superb shielding for my condenser mic. Recommended.

Good value for money

Have now used several times and works as described. I take it apart to store so it's a little fiddly but still remains sturdy with the fixtures in place. Good value for money.

Saves me having to treat the whole room!

As a radio presenter working form home I started with a blanket over my head so having this is a massive improvement! I would recommend getting a stronger desk mounted mic stand if you don't have one as this thing is quite heavy but is dose a fantastic job.

Not bad

A good product but that not meets all of my expectations

Does not work, even with a good microphone. USELESS.

I work in room that has a lot of echo. I also have a professional Shure MV7 Mic. Frankly I was under the impression that the mic alone, under the correct setting, shouldn’t give me too many issues with echo. But it does. So I thought this product at the very least would help drown out that echo I’m still somehow picking up.I recorded some audio, and I could still very much hear an echo. And I don’t mean that it was “a little better” than it is without the isolation shield… I compared it with and without the shield and it literally makes ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE. And this is on top of the fact I am recording on a mic with very specific settings that should already not be picking up any echo anyway. That really says a lot about this product. One could argue I still have not got my equipment set up in the right way, but frankly if it has to be any more immensely complicated to ‘get it right’ than it already is, it just means it’s no good anyway and a more substantial setup is a better way to go. DO NOT BUY THIS.

Not perfect, but a decent option for recording enthusiasts on a budget

This mini vocal 'booth' *does* make a difference to recordings but its design could be improved. At £55 it perhaps feels a little expensive at the point of purchase, but now I've taken the plunge (and spent an extra fiver on a DIY hack to improve it - see below) I feel it's worth having. Crucially, having this set up in the corner of my home studio has removed the hassle of hanging up blankets around the room to deaden reverb, so the real benefit is that I am just spending more time actually recording - for that reason alone it is worth the price of entry.Pros:- It does reduce the ambient reverb of your recordings, particularly if singing at quieter volumes close to the mic. If you're in an echoey room belting out power ballad choruses from several feet away this product probably won't make much difference, but for most purposes (normal level vocals, acoustic instruments) the unit makes a tangible and worthwhile improvement to the recording.- Once set up it is pretty unobtrusive and can be left on a mic stand so you spend less time faffing with kit and more time recording.- Its semi-foldable nature and light weight means I've confidently taken it on a few train journeys to record at other people's houses without issue. It fits in a supermarket 'bag for life' or small suitcase (or a rucksack if disassembled) and is not as flimsy as some reviewers suggest, in my opinion. It's not going to survive being chucked around on tour, but this is clearly a consumer-level product meant for home recording and for that purpose it is more than sturdy enough.Cons:- Initial setup is a bit fiddly. Allen keys and screws are provided but I found I had to hold the foam panels in place with my knees so I could use my hands to manipulate the screws. It's not a difficult setup, it just took longer than I'd expected, and I think I would have paid more for a screw-less and tool-less version.- If you have a very tall professional-grade condenser mic (mine is about 25-30cm tall including its cradle) you might feel that the 'stem' the mic/cradle is supposed to sit on raises the mic too close to the opening at the top of the foam panels, making their reverb-deadening less effective. The threaded stem you're provided is about 5-7cm tall, so as a DIY hack I bought a cheap screw thread adapter/spigot to replace it. Just search Amazon for "1/4 inch to 3/8 inch adapter screws" and you'll find something - probably labelled as camera tripod thread adapters. If you have a shorter microphone you can safely ignore this part!- It's a shame the folded top sections don't fully meet in the middle, leaving the aforementioned opening at the top of the unit. I just drape a blanket/jumper over the unit to make the microphone more fully 'sealed in' from outside reverb. This is a minor niggle but it does make the whole thing feel more DIY than professional.Overall, I think this is worth a punt, especially considering Amazon's generous returns policy. For £55 plus £5 for an adapter (if you need it) this is a fraction of the price of a USB interface or any other piece of recording kit and it is the difference between acoustic/vocal recordings being a major hassle vs something I can do at a moment's notice - as a hobbyist the thing that gets in the way of my recording more than anything else is time, so I think it's a worthwhile investment in that sense.

Sadly, Not Fit for Purpose

The foam padding and concept are great. However, trying to fit the nuts and bolts through the oh-so-closely-fitting case pieces is exceptionally difficult. And this is only made impossible by the bolts not being long enough! If you don't mind a challenging DIY project (and getting the right size bolts), then this might be for you. I think they designed the fixings before they added the foam padding!
