Works Great! RTM
Read the directions folks!!This scanner and converter is a great value and I've had no issues converting 8mm Video 8 VRC and regular VRC to USB and SD cards. I don't agree with the negative reviews. Read the directions!! It WILL burn to MPG (Mac OSX native by the way) - I needed this and change it in settings from the default MP4. It has no issues with USB - Reused USB drives are finicky so yes to always freshly format before starting your video project (even if new) and use no larger than 32GB, same for SD cards. All this is in the manual.I found that 25min of video conversion at HQ level equals around 1GB MPG files size. So 32GB media is plenty of space for a typical 120min tape. Now here's a tip and reality check - this unit does not contain a Crey supercomputer so it needs time to process and burn. I personally found that small 25 min chunks of video burn reasonably well and I give the unit time to process and burn. Follow the screen prompts and al shoddy be well. Be realistic with these types of devices - they are not pro level and there is a tradeoff on performance, etc. I found it is way to use but I needed to review the manual to find out most of what I mentioned here.

Did Not Function Properly
It did not like the FAT32 format to transfer the media. I kept getting errors. It did transfer on NFTS format but when the DVD was transferred onto the memory card is was in chapters not as a click and play like the DVD. I assume that the RCA function would work but that is at a low resolution. I ended up returning the device. Also, I never saw the images being transferred, it was just a progression bar. In all fairness I may have gotten a defective device but I didn't feel it was worth the 249$.

Diggin' this 'Didgit
I have an old Sony Digitizer Converter which still works and works well and I thought the design really couldn't be improved upon. Boy was I wrong! I'm a fan of the Wolverine Products and I would have to say that this one makes me want to give the Sony away. I initially bought it for a backup and have to admit, I thought the color was also an attractive feature. With this one, can actually see the full effect of the recording picture and process. The Sony only affords the viewing process but digitizer looks pretty much the same, outwardly, though decades older. The Wolverine is faster and it does incorporate the HDMI slot which wasn't in use when the Sony was purchased so I had to hook up an accessory to it to make it work. Results were just ok. The recording results are fantastic!! This unit is very much self-=intuitive.

Know that there are issues with this device
Do not deal with this company or buy this product. Lasted two months, charged me to send it in, then said it wasn't covered and wanted half what I paid for it to fix it.UPDATE: after I sent a not so nice email, they repaired and sent back my device

So Far So Good
I have been using this device for a little over a week to mainly transfer video from tape to SD cards and it has worked perfectly. My only complaint is that the device will not accept SD card larger that 32G, most of the ones I have are larger. May update review once I try and transfer some DVD's to the SD cards.

What's important to know
This Wolverine machine is a nice size and functional friendly as the operations selections are easy to use, however, we cannot get the audio to work. Called for help and Customer Support was great! They let us know that the audio will not be heard until playback. Also know that you need to format your flash drive to compatible format and do not use a newer flash drive than 2.0. Also know that our product performed/recorded sporadically (it would record great for first few times (up to 20 + minutes) and then it succeeded in recording for 2 - 5. min. max. and would not render the entire VHS tape... a different approach is being hunted. Hope this helps.

Waste of money and time
Wanted to turn our Hi8 mm video tapes into digital MP4. this thing didn't work at all. Says it burned the vids but there was never anything on the thumb drives or flash cards. I tried all different types and sizes couldn't get to work. They owe me money for waisting my time. I wish a read the reviews before I purchased
