A GR8 HDD- Highly recommended (see section on WD drive software if using Win10)
This is the main backup drive of my Microsoft Surface Book i7, connected via a Surface Dock. I waited a bit to review this HDD, as given it's always connected to my docking station, it's constantly powered on, but is not always being written to, yet sometimes gets disconnected mid read/write either by necessity or by my own cable removal error- a perfect storm for typical HDD failure. That said, this drive has & continues to perform flawlessly, with consistent speeds, good durability & reliability. My only caveat is that on a Windows 10 OS, the preinstalled WD software is a bit bothersome, especially as you can easily achieve the outcome of every included WD tool via bitlocker & other Win10 drive utilities... I recommend simply wiping the drive of its management software if you plan to connect/disconnect it regularly/numerous times, as the security feature of their tools gets in the way of quick "hot-swapping"- should you find this to be an issue, fix it by formatting the drive, using Windows drive management tools instead & downloading the free/generic WD drive repair software should you wish. Highly recommended for durability, price & overall performance.

I loved it!
This worked great! I’ve been using this in my college courses as a graphic design major and noticed a lot of other students got the same thing but in different colors. It gets the job done in Mac and PC. There is an issue where it won’t connect to Macs, but if you look up a tutorial it’ll walk you throgh the process to fix it. I’m thinking of buying another one for a backup just in case I drop it or anything lol

it's working perfectly fine. But golly-gee-wiz that was a solid 2+ hours ...
Pros:-Small (slight design issue - see cons)-Lightweight-Um... it's working so yay?Cons:-Whaaat is with the formatting issues with my Macbook Air? Once I finally got it sorted out between WD forums, Apple forums, many other forums, and sheer will power + fiddling, it's working perfectly fine. But golly-gee-wiz that was a solid 2+ hours wasted on what should have taken 30 seconds.-Design... what the heck? This really isn't a big deal but just have not been able to make sense of it. I have the same EHD in last year's model - it was simple/clean looking with rounded corners and sloped edges. I watched the ad/promo video for this and it highlighted how small it was and easy to carry around in one's pocket. Let me tell you, it was easier when it wasn't all 90 degree angles. Again, no big deal because how often do I really carry it around in my girl pockets only big enough for a lipstick (I guess that's what pants designers think we would ever need pockets for)? But every time I look at it (there's a picture of it right there as I write this review) it bugs me. I won't even get started on the weird two-textured halves bc I don't think my mind could handle any more boggling at the moment.

Must have for Photographers!
My older WD external hard drive is on its 8th year. It was great. Now that it is nearly full, I had to purchase another one. I work with large files as a photographer. Keeping files backed up and stored is very important to me. I really trust this brand. I set it up so it backs up all my data from my computer on a weekly basis. So if something ever happens to my computer, I have all the photos and info backed up to this small, portable, hard drive! I love it and I highly recommend it!

Great HD For The Price, Able to Use Both Windows & MAC If On FAT32 File Format
This hard drive has been my daily driver for backing up my pictures, projects and files that I need to create my content for photography and filming. I've already filled up 200gb's from the time I purchased this portable HDD. It reads/writes at a decent speed of almost 125mbps and hasn't crashed on me or given me any errors. I initially formatted this hard drive to FAT32 for to use it in between my MacBook Pro and my workstation at home. Usually I never upload a single file up to 4GB, which is FAT32's maximum file limit per file. I intend to keep my file format as FAT32 so I can switch between workstations from MacOS and Windows to keep my workflow optimized and backed up.Highlights:- Read/Writes up to around 125/125- Texture of HDD is intuitive and nice- Plastic material is strong- You get to pick different colors- Can switch from between NTFS, FAT32 & exFAT- Able to partition to multiple drives and if on FAT32, you can use on both PC and MacOS

Perfect Product!
I have two of these now. Mine formatted very easily to a MacBook and m a PC. For those having trouble just read the instructions that come with it or do a quick search on google before ranting about it not formatting correctly. Functions perfectly, not much to it!

Mac User Wanting Simple Storage? DO NOT BUY.
I was filling up a previous external hard drive with professionally edited photos, large video, and professional audio files. I purchased this to use when the other finally filled. Unfortunately, it took longer to fill than I thought, which means I didn't use this new one until it's too late for a return. I'm stuck with a completely useless piece of plastic. I have a Mac, which I know how to use very well. I have had no issues with previous external hard drives. This one comes chock-full of useless and unnecessary software and 'apps' they say will help you use the drive. I've read through the user manual three times. It mostly addresses Windows users and spends the rest of its many pages expounding on the software and apps. I just want to plug this thing into my laptop and drag image files onto it. Simple use. I have a doctoral degree, am fairly computer savvy, and still cannot figure out how to use it on a basic Mac laptop. I should have stuck with Seagate (my previous external hd). Don't make my same mistake.
