This Battle Box Kit contains units for both Gray Knights and Tzeentch's minions. Inside, you'll find 29 plastic Citadel miniatures, a 40-page Hexfire campaign book that includes a background narrative detailing the conflict between the Gray Knights and Thousand Sons over Hexenfast, plus s of additional rules to depict this supernaturally tainted theater of war. You'll also find datasheets for everything in the set, including alternate build options for kits that can make more than one unit type, plus the new Crusade rules for both factions. The set also includes a Chaos Space Marines transfer sheet, along with 8x40mm and 20x32mm round bases.

A good starting collection if you can find it at list price.
For the record, let it be known that this box set originally retailed at $170 USD.Even with the below-Games-Workshop prices things usually go for, a Dreadknight is worth ~$50, a Grey Knights Strike Squad box is worth ~$50, and a Scarab Occult Terminator box is worth $50. If you play Grey Knights, you currently want to run as many Dreadknights and Interceptors (assembled from the Strike Squad box using the spiky backpack) as you can though both those things may get nerfed before you read this, and if you play Thousand Sons, you should absolutely be running at least one unit of Terminators (with a Soulreaper Cannon and missile rack). That means, at retail price, you were effectively getting Castellan Crowe (worth $20-30), an Infernal Master (worth $30ish, a good HQ choice, and only available here), a Tzaangor Shaman (worth $30-35), AND a unit of Tzaangors (worth $35-40) for $20.You can use those prices to determine whether whatever crazy price you see this listed for is worth it, but remember that it started as a $170 kit. The little booklet that comes with the box is cool - it follows up the story from 8th Edition's Ritual of the Damned book! It includes a few unique Crusade rules for each faction and a pair of thematic missions for the included models if you want to play a mini-campaign with a friend. However, it's a very short bit of lore and the Crusade stuff isn't earth shattering, so it's not a reason to spend more than the price of acquiring the models you want individually unless you're an insanely devoted collector. An underappreciated aspect of this set is that if you give the Dreadknight a full loadout and build half the power armored marines as a Grey Knights Strike Squad to fill out your Troops role (just play them "counts as" Purifiers for the included story mission), and add a tiny bit to the TSons army (maybe swap the Tzaangor Shaman for 5 Rubric Marines?) you can easily expand from the narrative missions to a pair of decent Combat Patrol armies for learning Matched Play with a friend. The matchup makes every phase of the game relevant (command, movement, psychic - including Deny attempts, shooting, charge, fight, morale), so it really is good for learning the ropes... but sadly you and your friend will each need access to the Codex for the army you picked to learn properly. (The core rules are available as a free official PDF - you don't absolutely NEED the core book!)Posting this here for future nerds, since I remember seeing the Dark Angels vs. Chaos starter set for $300 when I was getting into the hobby and not knowing just how much of an upcharge it was. That ridiculous price was what drove me toward the points-expensive-dollar-cheap Grey Knights to begin with.

Great starter pack!
Tons of pieces and work to paint and build, but two great armies and cheaper than buying from the store!
