Sure, pull it out only as much as you need.

can cut ,but this is not recommended ,it will be not covered under warranty if you cut

Your space is roughly 8' 4" X 8'4" I would recommend the 7' X 12' standard size. You can easily cut some of the excess length rather than getting a 10" or other custom length,. Standard size is much cheaper than custom length. The 7' width will leave a slight space on each side, approx 8" each side, which creates a more airy feeling. Install with excess length initially to enable you to decide how much "droop" you want and thus the length you will need.
