Loved it!
This was my first read by Christina and Lauren and I totally loved it! โค๏ธThe romance was a slow-burn, grumpy vs sunshine trope, and extremely well developed. I loved all the characters, as well as the character development of both Jess and River. The book also had a fair amount of probability, statistics etc weaved into the story, and I was super impressed by the way it all shaped the plotline so well. And I really, really loved the bff Fizzy ๐ฅฒ the authors have said that they're having discussions for a Fizzy spin-off and I'm so excited for that ๐โญโญโญโญโญThe premise of this book is cool - the protagonist Jess Davis, is a single mom of a 7 year old, with her best friend Fizzy, her grandparents and her general community as her support system.Juggling her freelancing career in statistics along with taking care of her daughter takes up all her time.. so she's sworn off dating for the time being. But her bff Fizzy is determined to make her live her life to the fullest. Some shenanigans later, Jess and Fizzy sign up for this dating app which uses your DNA sample to suggest "soulmate" compatibility with other users in the app. And then Jess gets a previously unheard of 98% compatibility with the app's founder, River Pena. From her brief acquaintance with him, Jess knows that he's definitely not her soulmate. But as she starts spending more time with him to validate whether the app actually works, she starts to realize that there's more to the scientist - and the science behind a soulmate - than she thought.โญโญโญโญโญ

Cute, sweet, amazing.
Loved the book. It was an amazing romcom. Loved Juno and Fizzy too. And River was swoon-worthy, obviously. I think just the intensity might've been more. But overall good writing.

Loved the concept
It is based on a unique concept. Love that about the book. I liked the friendship of Fizzy and Jess too.

Good read

I really loved the way Jess n River genuinely discover if they have connection and explore the possibility of being together...Though this was a long read and somewhere I felt this story was dragged but overall a good weekend read..

Heart tugging romance
This is the story of Jessica Davis , a single mom and a freelance statistician who tries to balance her demanding job , grandparents , a cash funneling mother and an over enthusiastic daughter whose seven year old vocabulary has to include 'brothels'. Love has not even sprinkled through her thoughts for a long time. But when a certain grumpy and guarded River 'Americano' Pฤna unwillingly hints to her influencer bestfriend Fizzy, about a genetics based matchmaking project GeneticAlley he's working on, they plan to try it out for the thrill of it. For Dr. River Pฤna , Jessica is an above "average woman" and the woman in context isn't actually thrilled about overhearing this information . So imagine their surprise when Jess's spit is matched with a compatibility quotient of 98 percent with none other than Dr. Pฤna's , the parking space stealer. A first time result for GeneticAlley, both of them are begrudgingly forced to publicize this result. An exceptional romance with heart clenching moments , this book has lived up it's promises of joy and warmth.TITLE : A felicitous option for the story.COVER: Loving how the DNA proteins merge. Yellow does bring out the promise of romcom but I prefer the purple version where the title appears more prominent.PLOT : It amazes me how distinctively unique , thoughtful and challenging this plot was. The research put into the details was not lacking by any means. I applaud the authors for pulling it off. Infusion of animosity, doubt, obliviousness , heartbreak and humour has made the book exciting. I would have preferred River's POV. It saddens me to a great extent that I've to fantasize what he thought or felt in the story. Also more steam was a must! I mean you can't just write " We had sex in the kitchen last night" and give no details about it . *Giving hands-on-hips incredulous look*CHARACTERS : Jessica Davis was a perfectly portrayed female protagonist, flaws and all. Jess'sdoubt of feelings, the fear of commitment, devotion to her child, and the way she becomes alive when she's surrounded by her loved ones were superbly detailed to the T.I would have never expected a male character in romcom to be a silent yet sweet guy. Other than the exceptional calm and charm he projected, I was surprised more by his vulnerability and kindness. An absolute recommendation for cozy , sweet , clumsy yet flawless romance.

It was okayish
It was cute, just not The True Love Experiment cute. I liked River much better than self-pitying Jess to be honest!

So much better than The Unhoneymooners!
The book maintains a steady balance of fun and seriousness throughout. Most of the characters are really nicely sketched and appear human rather than perfect, something that is usually the case with most women's romance books. One thing I especially enjoyed was that Jessica wasn't the typical ditzy klutz who is so common in such books nowadays. As an educated woman, a practical mother, and a caring friend, she won my heart.I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a book of this genre so much. More importantly, I can't remember the last time I read such a book without rolling my eyes even once. We don't read these kinds of books for their writing accomplishments, we read them to go Oooohhh and Awwww! And there are plenty of Oooohhh and Awwww moments in The Soulmate Equation. So it is a very satisfying book for when you want something you can read with your brain turned off.A 4.25 from me.
