Briggs and Stratton 593934 Starter Motor, Black
This starter fit perfectly for my 42" Craftsman Pro riding mower and was MUCH less than going through the dealer. It was easy to install, taking about 15-20 minutes, including removing the old starter and installing this one. After install, it fired the motor up right away without the hesitation and binding like the old one. It comes with clear instructions to make it easier if you've never done this sort of thing. Of course after I got this on and running, solenoid went out! So, after getting this replaced (see my review for it), I am finally working again. Well worth the money and easy to use makes this a great buy and I would recommend it.

Starter eliminated my mower starting problems
My Poulan Pro tractor was having starting issues. I had to recharge the battery with my car because the batteries could build enough CCA/voltage to start the mower. I suspected that it was the starter. I ordered and installed this starter and my tractor does not have problems anymore. It revived my tractor. Great product. I recommend it.

Great product
Highly recommend for anyone looking to replace their starter in their mower! We had a shot starter in our Husqvarna zero turn. The shipping and delivery time was perfect arrived quickly and fixed out issue.

Real Briggs & Stratton part
As others have said, the item came in a Briggs & Stratton package. It was clean, damage free and brand new. I was unable to locate one in stock locally and when several part suppliers tried ordering it for me the price was double what I paid on Amazon. I am by no means a small engine repair guy, frankly I struggle to change the oil on my lawn mower, but this ended up being a very simple fix and inexpensive. There were several other options to choose from, I chose this one based on the reviews written here and the fact that it came from Briggs & Stratton themselves. I am happy with the decision.

Exact oem replacement starter
I’ve been tapping my old starter with a mini hammer for 3 months to make starter crank. This trick no longer works. Changed inexpensive starter solenoid, nope! Time for new starter!Due to the bracket design the bolt on the right is practically under the starter gear making it difficult to get even a 1/4 extension with a universal joint. However my bolts also have a Torx head (T-40) which if you buy a long handle you’ll snug that starter up like an old time pro. I struggled with my normal size T-40 and used a small adjustable wrench to tighten that starter TIGHT.Be a total rock star and put some anti seize on those threads!Something like these below that you can get a small adjustable on the small end and reach the bolt with the access problem.Get those bolts….TIGHTTitan 12715 Extra-Long Arm Tamper Resistant Star Key Set - 13 Piece , Green https://a.co/d/b0ULZUR

Works great!
I had purchased a cheaper starter about two years ago. It broke down already. This time I decided to spend the extra $20 and get the OEM Briggs & Stratton starter. Even though this starter matched the part number for my particular engine, the pinion gear was 14 tooth instead of 16 tooth. I was able to order a 16 tooth pinion gear for $5 and easily replaced it myself. Now the motor starts perfectly. I called Briggs & Stratton to ask about the pinion gear issue and they we're not much help. They said take it to your local dealer to fix. That defeats the purpose of changing the starter myself. The starter has been great so far.
