This is a nicely built spin top and yup it does spin. So far I have not been able to get more than about 5 minutes- most spins are 2+ mins. It really needs a smooth hard surface like glass to get it going for a long time. But it is well balance and weighted so it spin well. The fun part is not only the spin but watching it self stabilizes when you twirl it, and as it begins to wobble near the end of the spin, watch it till it comes to a complete stop-- in that process it has a number of antics it goes thru including a small wave goodbye at the very end. Fun and interesting toy.

I timed this thing on a glass table at about 7 minutes straight. Solid metal, will last a lifetime. Beautiful rainbow sheen all over it, and the top is grooved so that you can grip it with your fingers without slipping on smooth metal, and really give it a spin. Every kid I show it to wants one.

This top was brought as a sensory toy for my son with autism. It is quite small, but it is very easy to get spinning and it definitely spins for a good amount of time. I would not recommend this for a young child due to possible choking hazard though it might not be, but it is metal. Ot might be small, but it's definitely worth the price for the fun it brings.

After practice, I have been able to spin this for over 7 minutes on a concave glass base. I need to start it with the point touching the glass and spin it without a wobble. I can tell when it is good because it is nearly silent from the start of the spin.

This top is a little bit larger than I had expected but the added size and weight make for a super easy spin. I can effortlessly get this top to spin for 3 minutes or more most spins.

I like the metal top for how long it will spin as opposed to a less dense plastic or wood. I was concerned it would damage my desk so the little metal stand is great. When I was a kid my grandfather would carve tops out of thread spools for me so I have always had a fondness for small tops. He would drive a pin into the center so the metal head would act as the contact point and they would spin forever. These metal tops have much more momentum and have that same great low friction contact point. Its fun and good for the occasional distraction.

Best hand-spin has been around 9-10 minutes on a glass plate. The knurled tip makes it easy to get a good spin.
