Small but powerful!
I recently purchased the KIMO 6-inch mini chainsaw cordless for some much-needed yard work. I have a small but growing collection of KIMO tools, so when I started looking for a cutting tool, I wanted to stick with the same brand. Not only are they great value and work very well, but the batteries can be shared between all tools. As someone who doesn't have a lot of experience with powered cutting tools, I was nervous about using a full-sized chainsaw. However, I found this smaller version to be extremely helpful and easy to use. What I loved about this chainsaw is its lightweight and portable design, weighing just a bit over 2 lbs and measuring less than 1.5 feet. This made it perfect for getting into hard-to-reach places and especially for ladder work, where a large gas chainsaw would be difficult to carry and start. This mini chainsaw is also very efficient. I was able to run it for about 30 minutes, providing plenty of cutting time. It was also straightforward to install, with only one screw needed to adjust chain tension. I thought it would be way more complex than it actually, which is a relief. Even though I'm a beginner, I had no problem using it, and it made gardening pruning and branch cutting so much easier. It came with everything I needed, including the saw, and all accessories. All in all, I am very impressed with this product, and it exceeded my expectations!

Customer service and initial usage
It arrived fully assembled. After charging battery, I tested with no load and it worked fine. But when I tried to cut a limb, it jammed in less than 5 seconds. Removing the side cover, I found that the retainer clip for the sprocket had come off (and I could not find it) and the silver round plate between it and the sprocket had come off and jammed into the chain.I contacted the KIMO service email address listed on the box. Response was very quick and to the point. Within a couple of days, they sent me what I thought would be the needed C-clip (a ten-cent item) but when the box arrived, it was a complete new mini-chainsaw! No complaints about customer service!I have so far tested it only on dead but quite hard wood, which can be tricky with chainsaws. Works fine. It will be great for trimming--up to a few inches diameter only. But extremely handy, easy to use, and appears to me to be well made. Note that it does not have automatic oiling of the chain--it says right on the chain safety guard to oil after every 3 minutes of use. That is very easy, but make sure you have chain oil--the KIMO comes with a little empty oil bottle but no oil.Completely satisfied so far.

works great, lightweight
I love my new mini chainsaw. It works really well. I really like the maneuverability. It's small size allows me to get into places i can't with the big saw and is difficult with the sawsall. With it's light weight and top guard it is easy to use. My teenage son is very comfortable using it and can without issue. Love the reader on the battery so you know exactly how much power you have left.

Not happy with customer service.
This worked, but then went to use it in the spring and it didn't work. Contacted customer service and provided a video if the charging system, voltage readings, everything they wanted and they assured me they would take care of it. They then responded and said it was out of warranty (by a couple days) and told me to pound salt. So I'm looking for a reputable replacement.Since they didn't support me, I took the battery apart and looks like a circuit board fried itself. Which I still believe they should send a replacement battery, but I'm done with this company.

Great tool for intended small jobs
I am impressed with this mini chainsaw. I needed something smaller and more light weight for our acre of yard. It was easy to assemble and run. I found the lock switch is a little awkward. My first job was to take down a dead 5’ shrub. Wow, down and cut up in 20 minutes. It is comfortable to hold and easy to charge. I cannot wait to go after the next dead 6’ shrub. The noise level is far less than gas powered tools. We eliminated our large chainsaw as it became a liability given its weight and I am in my 70’s. This is the second battery operated garden tool we have purchased. I am sold on them versus the gas operated tools at least for our needs.Shipping was extraordinary fast given Amazon’s distribution capabilities I ordered this in the morning and it arrived the same day. I have no hesitation recommending this product.

Great for small jobs where a larger chainsaw would be too unwieldy
We've had this a couple of months now, so have had time to get familiar with it.It's a great little tool for doing jobs (such as lopping small to medium sized branches) that would get tedious with manual loppers, but are either too small or in too awkward a location for a standard small chainsaw. It's lightweight and maneuverable enough for one-handed operation, which means you can get into spots that might be awkward with a regular small chainsaw, and it can handle limbs several inches in diameter that a manual lopper couldn't.That light weight comes with a couple of tradeoffs, of course. You can't really rely on the saw's on weight to push down while cutting through a limb, so you'll have to put a small bit of effort into that. Nor is there an oil chamber to keep the chain lubed - you'll need to add a few drops of oil to the chain yourself on a regular basis. A bottle with a long nose is provided for the purpose - it works fine, it's just one extra thing to keep track of as you work.Nor will you work all day (or even a full hour) on a single battery, or course. I'd love to see a larger battery as an option, but so far I'm not aware of one.

Battery failed
The products work great, I have the whole family of Kimo tools, 5 stars for that. However I was disappointed to discover yesterday that one of my batteries failed, it will not charge or keep a charge. It’s not even a year old so this doesn’t bode well. The other tools and batteries are still going strong but I’m concerned that one has already failed, I hope this is not going to become a problem for the others that are still working!

Nifty tool, but SAFETY DOES NOT WORK
I bought this to prune some bushes and shrubs, and it works great. It easily cuts through branches up to a diameter of 4-5 inches, and is light enough to operate with one hand. The battery holds a decent charge, and will last for most major jobs. The only negatives are that the instruction manual indicates you need to oil the chain after 3 minutes of use, which can get annoying (and messy) if you’re doing a big job. Also, if you’re located internationally, do note that the charger is 110V so you’ll need to get a voltage adapter (it’s a 55W charger). However, the main issue I faced was that the SAFETY DOES NOT WORK! The chain moves if I press the trigger without pressing the safety, which is a huge design flaw and a safety issue. Granted, the chain doesn’t move at full speed - but still fast enough to do some serious damage.
