Success first go. Requires willingness to read and follow the instructions carefully.
Regarding the device, most importantly it worked (or at least delivered first cholesterol results that were what I expected given my most recent GP cholesterol check). The process requires care and a willingness to read the instructions and follow them diligently – specifically I’m thinking of the blood collection stage. It would have need nice to get additional capillary tubes: there is only one supplied per profile strip so if the blood collection goes wrong you have a choice of re-use the capillary tube or buy an additional generic spare which might not have the same exact capacity (which is important). The device requires an old-style "mini" USB. The downloadable management software is very basic indeed for 2023 and provides little more than a list of results.Regarding the seller [Home Health (UK)] dispatch and delivery were very quick; the device was well packaged and everything was present and worked. It was a little disappointing that the expiration dates on the 10 profile strips were very short: I will need to use two per month instead of the one per month that I had planned on.Overall I’m glad I bought it compared to the alternative of paying for individual tests at a pharmacy.

Do not buy! ( it just doesn't work)
The lancets provided for this device are totally inadequate. It is impossible to collect enough blood for this machine to work. I tried several times without success. It just reads error. I would not buy as there are other versions on amazon that require much lower amounts of blood and are accurate.

Handy to test at home but bear in mind accuracy!
Bought this not really cheap device to monitor my cholesterol while I am on TRT and found it helpful for my purpose. It saves me a lot of money instead of having to use a lab all the time. The device is well manufactured, looks sturdy and professional. Process of blood sampling and use of the device is not the easiest at first (waisted a few strips already because the machine went to error during reading of the sample, mainly due to sampling issues) but once you learned how to get the blood sample properly then it’s all fine!Very important thing about accuracy, I tested the machine against my lab results using the same blood (not too different samples) and the machine tends to underestimate the values by 20-30% so keep this in mind if for medical reasons it’s important you get precise values!! See below results, first number is my lab and second is this machine’s.Total cholesterol 3.66 vs 3 = error -22%HDL. 1 vs 0.8 = error -20%LDL. 2.01 vs 1.6 = error -31%NON HDL 2.66 vs 2.1 = error -25%Trigliceridi 1.43 vs 1.1 = error -30-%

Does what it says
I've had this for some time and it gives very reliable results. You just need to follow the instructions, and they even give you a pipette to measure the blood.

Useful home test kit
Bought this to enable me to do some of the lab tests normally done by NHS in annual health check, as I didn't want to attend a clinic in the middle of high coronavirus prevalence to have a blood sample taken, provides the critical ratios, easy to use if the instructions are followed carefully. Unit arrived promptly, suitably packed, plenty of time left relative to the Use By dates of the test kits. Reportedly reasonably accurate, but I won't know for sure until I have my next scheduled NHS test and can use one of these test kits back-to-back to compare. Usefully, comes with disposable lancets.

Not accurate
Bought to monitor high triglycerides but always reported my known high readings as too low to register along with most other readings! Tested against lab readings and completly inaccurate on every occasion. Seller suggested it was down to how I was using monitor. Incorrect readings are far worse than none. Will stick with lab tests in future.

Results not clearly explained
It would be beneficial if a clear table was provided to help explain results. The test kits have some guidance and are expensive - I could find them on Amazon.Aldo wasted a few kits as was learning what to do it not do. Takes practice to get right and get resultsQuestionable as to how accurate or helpful results are - are you allowed to eat before testing?Guidance would be beneficial as otherwise you are no better off or more informed than when you didn’t have the machine
